Still the best,

This review is from: Trees and Shrubs of Kentucky (Kentucky Nature Studies) (Hardcover)
Although this is an older work, it remains the best book concerning Kentucky specific flora for the amateur. Although some of the taxonomic classifications have changed since it was published, most of the information remains relevant and is wonderfully presented alongside color photos of flowering portions and fruits of plants, and black and white photographs of leaves, buds and bark. This is a very accessible work for anyone interested in Kentucky's biological wonder. For a more scholarly work, refer to "Plant Life of Kentucky: An Illustrated Guide to the Vascular Flora", by Ronald L. Jones.

A scholarly tome on plants...not a resource for taking to the field on a casual trip.
