4.0 out of 5 stars A charming suspense romance, gothicky., October 12, 2006

I think this is the first of Brent's novels. Not my favorite one but still a solid 4-star for me. It was set mostly in England and Italy. The heroine, daughter of a Cornwall fisherman, gradually ends up back in Venice from whence her Italian grandmother came. There are water rescues, attempted murders, and several people who are not what they seem. But our plucky heroine survives with the help of those who turn out to actually be her friends rather than her mortal enemies. This story was a lot of fun and has a mysterious hero to boot. I got totally caught up in the adventure. Enjoy!
