Review

The only available trekking guide devoted solely to Bolivia, Trekking In Bolivia offers comprehensive information for travelers planning a trekking trip in this naturally diverse, affordable, uncrowded and partly unexplored adventure travel destination. Written by a professional mountain guide and adventure traveler, Trekking In Bolivia has both the widest selection of already published treks and treks published for the first time. Trekking In Bolivia includes detailed and accurate route maps for trips of all lengths, terrain, and levels of difficulty. Information on Bolivia's national parks and the best Inca trade routes is also provided along with specialist advice on buying and hiring gear and services, and arranging your own trips and transport. Ideal for serious trekkers and lots of fun for the armchair traveler as well! -- Midwest Book Review

1.0 out of 5 stars Confusing Maps!, January 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Trekking in Bolivia: A Traveler's Guide (Paperback)
We found the maps and hiking times listed for destinations very inaccurate. The description of the trail routes lack detail and can be very confusing. One of the hikes we did in Boliva was the Choro Trial. This is ONE of the 3 Inca Trails in Boliva. One would assume that of any treks, this one would have been accurate. Not the case. If you are looking for a guide book to help you plan your treks in Boliva and/or Peru go with the Brant Guide book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some new hikes, but prefered style of Bradt book., September 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Trekking in Bolivia: A Traveler's Guide (Paperback)
Good introduction to hiking in Bolivia but found author's style unprofessional. Overall useful for treks but also used Trekking in Peru and Bolivia which was better but also had problems. Buy maps and learn Spanish! Hikes around Sorata are great!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Offers many alternatives to the standard gringo trade routes, November 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Trekking in Bolivia: A Traveler's Guide (Paperback)
We were looking for off the beaten path backpack trips. In Brain's book we found the standard 'Inca Trail' routes that everyone writes about in addition to trips where we would saw no other tourist for several days. There are about 3 times as many routes described in Brain's book compared to the Brandt Guide. Also we found the Brain book more up to date. The only disappointment was that some of the descriptions were just plain incorrect. I got a feeling that this book was rushed to press.
