4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I would've bought this sooner!!
The first time my daughter started chewing the rail of her crib, it was already too late. The damage was done. The finish was removed from an area about the size of a quarter in two places, one from her top teeth and another from the bottom not to mention the many scratches in other places. I looked at other crib rail guards and none of them would fit our convertible...

I bought all three sides for my daughter two years ago and absolutely loved it. I did notice even after the first wash that the underside "balled" up kind of like a sweater but didn't think twice. The top side is a real nice fleece while the underside is made of a different material. All in all I probably washed it four times before I pulled it out again for my second daughter. She was 7 months and is now 10 months. Within the span of these three months I had been pulling out white fuzz from her mouth that she was chewing on and was puzzled. I didn't put two and two together until one day when she was in her crib gagging and had a big ball of white fuzz in her mouth and in her hands. She had been pulling on the underside layer and eating the fuzz. Obviously I took them off ASAP as it was a major choking hazard. Also noticed she had been pulling on the ties and the sewing on them was coming loose with the filling falling out. So... great product if your child doesn't do this, but since the concern is there, I would NOT recommend to anyone unless they change the design and put the fleece on both sides.

The first time my daughter started chewing the rail of her crib, it was already too late. The damage was done. The finish was removed from an area about the size of a quarter in two places, one from her top teeth and another from the bottom not to mention the many scratches in other places. I looked at other crib rail guards and none of them would fit our convertible crib. These are wonderful! Not only are they soft, easy to install and are machine washable, but there's a waterproof layer so when she chews it now, the wetness doesn't seep down to the wood to damage it further. I also purchased the side rail covers to protect the crib on all the sides she could chew. I highly recommend this product!!

Now that I have owned this product for some time I wanted to make a suggestion. I still highly recommend these protective guards, but before you wash them, place a few stitches through it in a few places to keep the cushioning in place. The first washing wasn't too bad, but after the second and third, the batting inside has bunched up and no longer lies flat and is doubled in some areas. It's not a sheet that you can maneuver back to it's original position. Once it's bunched, it's bunched. I haven't found a way to fix it, but it doesn't look that bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job but needs some fiddling, August 31, 2011

This works well on my DwellStudio for Target crib. The ties on the bottom are not very long (probably for safety reasons I imagine) and are meant to tie to each other and not to the bed posts. If you insert the tie through the slit and simply tie them together, when my son grabs it to stand up it rotates around and slips. In order to keep the pad in place I had to tie the strings around the 2 outside posts (which are thicker and so the ties are barely long enough) and to a middle post which works well. If you fiddle with it in this manner it works out really well. No leakage from drool seeping through and my bed posts are chew-mark free.

The only other con is that you should line dry the pad after washing. Due to the plastic-y backing it doesn't breathe well when wet, thus doesn't dry perfectly well inside. I fear mold or a musty smell letting it sit. I put it in the dryer on low for a long time and so far so good.

Oh my goodness, am I glad I purchased these! My little beaver, I mean my infant son, learned to pull himself up into a stand at 6 months and at 7 months his bottom 2 teeth erupted. Shortly thereafter, he knawed on his crib. Once. I immediately ordered these (in Natural Fleece) and it arrived the next day.

Thank god for this product.

My beautiful crib will survive his teething years with only one little scratch (which occured before I bought these) because of this ridiculously simple and attractive product. I plan on buying this for EVERYONE I KNOW whenever they get pregnant. EVERYONE. I don't care what may or may not be on their baby registry, they will be getting this...everyone needs this product that is going to have a baby.

Mine literally get used every day and neither the crib nor the rail guards are any worse for the wear after a month of use. The moment my son wakes up, he is up and has his adorable little mouth on his rail guard, chomping away. It's constantly slobbery and damp. They easily come off to go into the wash and are put easily back up before he goes to bed. It also doesn't take away from the attractiveness of his nursery. It's actually rather good looking and is more like a bumper for the topline of crib rails. Very cute. An added bonus is that I feel a bit safer with him standing in his crib now, because if he falls backwards in there, which happens from time to time (it's unavoidable), at least the rails are cushioned a bit now.

As for some reviewers saying that this slides and moves on the rail, I have no idea what they're talking about. My little guy is constantly pulling himself up on these and never once have they moved.

This was easily one of the best purchases I have made in my life. I'd say it's in the top 5...

(Edited to add that after 9 months of use, this still holds up. Love it!)

These bed rail pads work great. I ordered one long one and two shorter side rails. The ties are nice and simple and look good when tied. Also provides a little padding in case the baby smacks her head on the rail.

I'm going to order one more long one for the back rail since our girl is so tall she can reach the back rail with the mattress in the middle height position.

I bought the front and side rail guards after walking in and seeing my son chewing up the crib. I installed them, and the problem is that they are so baggy, he has learned how to move them to the side and still chew on the crib. There is no way to secure them to make them tight and so they don't move. I bought these because of the great reviews, but unfortunately, I didn't experience the same results.

My husband and I spent a lot of money on a convertible crib and matching nursery furniture so that my daughter would be able to use it all the way up until she leaves for college. I wanted to make sure she didn't ruin it in the first two years by teething on her crib rail (which will eventually be her footboard). This product does the job. It is easy to put on and take off to wash. Other reviewers have mentioned that the material seems cheap. I have NOT experienced that. The material is soft but strong. It also has a layer of plastic on the underside to keep moisture from seeping through to the wood of your crib rails. Great product!

My clever little monkey did figure out how to untie these, but she hasn't been able to coordinate a full-on attack by undoing all of the ties at once. So, the guard still sits on the rail and protects her from teething on it even when one tie is undone. We also bought the side rail guards for her crib. The wood has a dip in it in the front, but the guard still works. It's a little short on our crib but we tied the side ones a little closer to the front and made it work. Overall we're very pleased!

I bought this rail wrap because my daughter is teething and was chewing the railings of her crib. I looked at several different types of rail protectors before deciding to try this one. This wrap proved to be a great purchase. It is really soft and the fit is great. I washed it before putting it on and let it air dry (I was worried if I put it in the dryer the material on the inside would bunch up). I did notice the first of the ties made a ripping sound when I was tying it on but I just did the rest without pulling hard on them and they were fine. Overall I'm very pleased with this wrap (I even bought a second one).

My first review - The fleece is soft and with the waterproof layer it's thick protection for the crib and baby teeth. Our little guy can still grab on and stand up with it on, but I don't have to worry about him hurting himself on the crib (or scratching the crib) We liked this so much we got the covers for the sides as well.

****I need to make an addendum here after a couple of months of use - I have this for the front of the crib and two shorter ones for the sides, but they don't cover near the corners. I discovered this evening that my son had found a spot and been gnawing on the inside of the rail. He only has bottom teeth so there isn't anything visible form where I usually stand. I need to find something that actually goes all the way around before he eats the top layer off the whole crib!
