Product Description

The Trend Sports(r) Xtender 30 home batting cage features steel-tube side supports to give the frame durability and maximum swinging area for the player. The middle arch of the frame is constructed with a flexible fiberglass rod, which allows the cage to flex in the wind without bending or breaking. Its extra-strength 1" polypropylene netting is so small that it doubles as a golf cage, allowing you to practice your golf swing too.

I bought two of these to put together for a sixty foot cage. I was told that they withstand wind very well but snow or a buildup of leaves were not good on it. I live in the south and put the cage out in the open so I felt like things would be just right. After assembly it looked great and I thought I had purchased something for a bargain. Now don't get me wrong it is not top of the line but it did appear to be worth what I paid for it. A few days later we had a "breezy" day and the cage all but completly fell in. I got concerned enough that I contacted Trend Sports and actually talked to the man who supposedly designed the cage. He told me the cage was designed to bend but not break and that this was completely normal. He sounded almost mad that I was questioning his design continually telling me that I did not understand the concept. I do understand the concept but the problem is that it does this on all but calm days. Any kind of wind wreaks havoc on the cage and if it gets gusty (20-30mph) it will blow it almost flat on the ground. I bought this cage for Christmas so we have not seen a thunderstorm yet but I can only imagine what that will do. So far I have been able to go out and straighten it back up but the groung stakes are getting weak at the top were they are continually getting bent over. I wouldn't say that I got ripped off but I really do not think I would purchase this cage again.

I bought this batting net in 2010. The other reviews that complain about the wind are correct. However I have used this net for three seasons now. The trick is to put it up when you want to use it and take it down when you are done. We lift up on the poles and let them down gently, starting at one end and moving to the other. Reverse to put it back up. My 12 and 9 year old sons can now do this on their own in about 3 minutes. The foam pad protecting the poles are getting worn, and the ground base stakes are showing wear. I have to re-tape the pole connections each year. Also the poles were numbered but they were not in the correct order when originally received. Once I worked out the correct pole combination, I used a label gun to number them before putting away for the winter.

Yes the netting is flimsy and yeilds to wind and rain, but that is why a boy can hit a rocket and the net contains it. I have also hit a few golf balls in it. I suspeact it will wear out in a few more seasons but by then my boys will be onto middle school and beyond my coaching abilities.

The ground stakes are very light weight and thin metal and they will bend over and the net will sag. Very poorly made...you'll have to hammer solid rod bars in the ground to slide the net pole over it and that will work great.... the net is perfectly great..!!!!
