Whoa nelly the reviews on this product had me scared I'd wind up with a sodden mess of oil on my head. But, because I'm crazy like a fox (is that the saying?), I went ahead and purchased anyway. Why oh why, do you ask, would I purchase even with the negative reviews? One answer. Most of the reviews I read that were negative talked about brushing it through the hair and/or didn't indicate that it was used on curls. The ones that were used on curls seemed to actually be mildly impressed with the product. Being a curly girl myself, I threw caution to the wind and went for it (it also helps I had an Amazon giftcard so it didn't seem like I was actually "paying.")

For me, the verdict is in and this foam is NOT-GUILTY (of making me look like I've worked over a fryer for 10 hours).

Let me say, I don't think the other reviewers are liars, I just don't think this is the right product for their hair type. My hair is curly, a little coarse, and fairly dry. I don't have the oily problem if I don't shampoo for a day (or three). I have used the TIGI Rockaholic dry shampoo and the Batiste dry shampoo as well. They work OK for me but not nearly as well as this. Part of the problem is that I just can't "brush the product through my hair." COME ON. If you are a curly like me you know there is no brushing of the hair after it is dry. Well, unless you look forward to an appearance akin to the bride of Frankenstein or delight in scaring the crud out of small children. But, I digress.....

In sum, for me, a long-haired curly person (geez, I sound like a hippie), it worked great. I wore my hair in a high pony for bed, let it out in the morning, pumped 3 squirts (ick, I hate the word squirt) in my hands and gently zhuzhed it on my ends. Then, a few more squirts (seriously, I need a better word for squirt), and I zhuzhed a bit more all over. Perfect. Didn't leave my hair with anything white on it and didn't leave it feeling dry or crunchy which is normally what happens when I use a spray dry shampoo.

So, on the correct hair type, I say 5 stars (and, anything that lets me type "zhuzhed" twice has to be awesome!).

I am an avid user of dry shampoos as I have long thick hair that I cannot wash daily or it will be damaged. When I learned of this product and saw a foam instead of a spray powder, I thought I had finally found a product that I would love to use in between shampoos. The spray powders usually leave a white residue on my dark hair and tend to be heavy and a bit drying. I thought a foam would not have these effects.
The foam obviously is wet, but I followed the directions thinking the product would dry quickly. It did not and left my hair very, very heavy. I did not experience the stickiness others have indicated, but having thick hair already, the heaviness makes it impossible to style. This product does remove odor and it seems to remove oil and did not leave a drying effect on my hair. As a matter of fact, it felt as if it was acting as a bit of a conditioner. But the heaviness of the product somewhat counters these benefits. I still have to pull my hair back in a barrette or pony tail
Bottom line, this product is great to remove odor and oil in between washings without causing any drying or damaging effects. But, do not expect to be able to use and have the ability to really style as if you had washed it.

I've read the other reviews of this product and disagree with most of them. First off, this product is for dry/curly hair. So, the woman with oily hair...you're using the wrong product. Secondly, the directions state that you need to rub your hair with a towel to remove the oils...not let it dry naturally, or brush it out.

My son uses this product and it's been a tremendous help. He has dry AND curly hair. Between middle school, football practice, the fitness center and homework, it's hard to get his hair washed, at night and even when he does find enough time, he often wakes up with dry flakes. He uses a handful of Freshstart for curly/dry hair, waits about 2 minutes and then rubs it out with a towel. The flakes are gone, his hair smells and looks fresh and clean.
