Rolling Stone and All Music Have It Wrong!,
By Sage Spirit (U.S.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trevor Hall (Audio CD)
I actually think Rolling Stone and All Music got it wrong. This is a four star album. Like a compelling photograph, its beauty lies in its simplicity. In the troubled world we live in, Trevor's music can only be described as a ray of hope. With a strong spiritual undercurrent, his message is undeniable, and will move you to tears. I think the reviewer heard what Trevor was saying and read the lyrics, but was not truly listening or seeing. Higher meaning and true spiritual freedom can only be found when you look deep into your own heart and soul and open yourself up to all the possibilities--and Trevor has done exactly that by channeling the experiences he had in India along with his current experiences living with Monks in California. Actually, Trevor turns out very few words but is saying a lot. Musically, there is a lot to love, and his unique and powerful voice and well-crafted songs only add to the intoxicating quality of this winning album--especially when coupled with his profound message of peace, love and unity. Listening to this album will cleanse the soul and lift the spirits--but only if you are receptive and not intimidated by what he has to say. Who would have thought that a skinny white boy from South Carolina could be capable of such depth.

I first heard of Trevor Hall when I saw him open for a band in Solana Beach, California. I was blown away by his show. I am not normally a huge reggae fan, but his energy, lyrics, passion, and musical talent is amazing. This album is one that I will be listening to over and over. Buy this album, and do you best to see Trevor Hall live!

A Unique Trip,
By
This review is from: Trevor Hall (Audio CD)
Trevor's album is a mellow journey through an old soul filled with hope and love for all humanity. He writes from his heart and it shows. There is enough reggae influence to make his sound unique, but enough pop/rock to make the sounds easy to digest. A definite winning album, full of good songs instead of just one or two good singles and the rest filler. Although this is a debut album for him on Vanguard, Hall has been writing and performing for years, collaborating with Matisyahu, Colbie Caillat, and Krishna Das on this album alone ("Unity," "The Lime Tree, and ""Volume," respectively). This album is great for anyone looking for a fresh, standout sound.

I love this album. Trevor sings with the soul of an old timey rastafari. His lyrics and tone come from a spiritual place. His music is mature and touching.
You WILL love this!

I like this Trevor Hall CD. The music is easy with a great deal of meaning. My favorites are Who Are You Going to Turn to & The Lime Tree. Although House was originally my favorite. I like his words & meanings to his songs; they are deep.

When I heard "Unity" on a Paste Mazazine sampler CD, I was fascinated and intrigued by Trevor Hall's rhythmic breezy voice and singing style. Many of written about his alluring lyrics of peace, spirituality, tolerance which is all true. I am most impressed with the passion and joy with which he delivers this lyrics, enveloped in many intriguing musical compositions. Each song seems like a quest in its own way. His voice and singing style are so compelling and attractive that I wish he would trust it more often with the ballads, stay in the soft delivery for the entire song instead of always reving it up, backed by loud instrumention.
It's nice to be able to look forward to every song on this CD, traveling the path of surprises he leads you in to and just simply absorbing his joyful feeling.

I saw a small ad in Yoga Journal for this cd, looked it up, and purchased. The lyrics are fabulous. Trevor's voice/music has a hint of a reggae sound. I have used this music in my yoga classes and the students have inquired about the artist after class. After listening, I believe that the artist has shown an inspiring piece of himself through this work.
