If you liked R. Kelly's new album, chances are you will probably like the beginning of this album. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling R. Kelly's latest album because of lyrics like "I almost called that girl a b---- again." I like R&B that's R&B, not melodic rap. Too many times on Trey Songz's album, he did more rapping than singing, especially at the beginning. I kept looking for standout songs like "Gotta Make It," but I came up short on this one. Can he sing? Definitely. Do I like his voice? Love it. Was I satisfied with this album? Not really. The lyrics were elementary (listen to "Grub On" and "Wonder Woman"), sometimes offensive (like the one above), and I wish he'd stop rapping altogether. All the rap guest appearances were NOT necessary. When I want to hear rap, I'll listen to rap. When I want to hear hip hop, I'll listen to hip hop. But I wanted this album to be like his last, where it was a LOT of soul and emotion and less time trying to be as hard as possible. However, when he started SERIOUSLY singing and you could tell the veins were showing in his neck, that's when I was like "Finally! There's the Trey I was waiting to hear." And when he did "Store Run," I gained so much more respect for him. It's not often that you hear ANYBODY, whether rapper or singer, talk about getting protection before they do the do. "Store Run" gets five stars.

It's been awhile since I've done a review, (at least since I moved from Virginia Beach, VA to Portsmouth, VA), so here goes. I know Trey isn't a teen anymore, but the latest cd of his makes him a cast member of the American Pie movies-all sex and no substance. This suprises me because his first cd was on point and made me want to purchase this one-or maybe it's just the age difference between us that make me look for more. Each and every song was about some form of sex-rough sex, submissive sex, kinky sex, so forth and so on. I don't have a problem with it unless that's all that you have to offer. To be such a talented young man, this offering was pointless and empty. I won't totally give up on him, but I will listen to several tracks in whatever store has those automatic earphones first before I spend anymore money on him again.

Trey Songz has the voice of a god. I mean, the man can sing. I don't think anyone should even try and refute that very obvious fact. I personally felt that `Ready' was a very solid album. From beginning to end it worked very well.

`Trey Day' is not as fortunate.

I still like this album and have no problems listening to it from start to finish. Even the songs that I'm not that fond of don't get `skipped' by me. I put the album in and let it run its course because Trey has a way with working with his material. He is always engaging, even when his songs are less than rewarding.

Trey, much like Jamie Foxx and Robin Thicke, has one thing on his mind; making love. I don't have a problem with this when the subject is explored with dignity or at least some imagination (I wouldn't say that Thicke is very dignified, but he is far more creative than Foxx, which makes him appear less tacky). Songz managed to make his yearnings palatable on `Ready', delivering swoon worthy tracks that elicited something inside our stomachs that made us gyrate to his every word.

He delivered an album of music to make love to.

Sadly, `Trey Day' delves too far into tacky territory. Instead of giving his words some dignity he stoops to near offensive dialog that ruins the swagger he was born with. Sure, every song on this album `sounds' good, but that doesn't mean they are good songs.

`No Clothes On', `Grub On' and `Store Run' are just kind of ridiculous. I know that some praise Trey for singing about protection, but I found the song almost laughable. I mean, good job by I don't want to listen to you sing about it. `We Should Be' is just too sleepy. He sounds impeccable, but the production is almost too old and just doesn't work for the direction of the album.

I like `Sex For Yo Stereo', even if it is really self indulgent. `Can't Help But Wait' has a nice bounce to it, but it doesn't really pop the way I wanted it to. `Missin You' is a pretty good song despite the obnoxious techno vocals on the chorus.

I just want to say that I like the way that Trey `smooth raps' a lot of this album. He has pipes, but he also has flow and I appreciate that.

Despite the overall `fare' vibe to the album, there are still five tracks that are really, really good.

`Role Play' may be kind of tacky, but it is sung with such conviction, and the beat is slick and sultry. You can't help but `get ideas' when listening to this one. Besides, that opening `question' is just, well...you get the picture. `Long Gone Missin' opens the album, and some have a problem with the themes and some of the lyrics, but I found them authentic and realistic. You love the one your with, but that doesn't mean there aren't times when you want to wring their necks. The beat is infectious and Trey's vocals are on point, both when he's rapping and when he's singing. I love the beat to `Fly Together', and the collaboration with `Jim Jones' is complimentary. They really craft a memorable and likable track. It has swagger. `Last Time' is the best `slowjam' on the album. Trey sounds great, and his flow is stunning here.

But, the best is without doubt `Wonder Woman'. I love the slick beat that accompanies this track, and the flow that Trey possesses as he works his way through this track is just amazing. It may not be the deepest song (I mean, nothing on this album even comes close to his work on `Ready') but it has presence and it is ravenous in tone and texture.

I'm captivated.

In the end, I recommend this. Sure, I only gave it a C, but I had high expectations and I know he can do better than this. That said; his voice is unmatchable really and deserves your attention.

Im telling you...this album is a must own if your a Trey Songz fan. Im a big fan of Trey so you might just think that im hypin this album, but it really is great. I like basically every track on the album. Trey is definetly one of the most under rated R&B artists out there now and if you listen to this album plus all of his mixtapes, you too will agree with me. This dude can sing and rap on the same song...but he'll make it come together just fine. Yes i must admit he does more rappin on this album than on "I Gotta Make It" but he switched his style up a little and im diggin it. Tyrese tryed to do it as well, but he didn't really blow with it. You'll most definetly love this album!!! GO COP IT!!!
TREY DAY IS MAYDAY!!!

This album is the greatest of all time, in my opinion. The lyrics, beats, and of course the voice Trey Songz. I listen to it day in and day out. The best songs on there are Sex for your Stereo, which makes you feel as though Trey is talking directly to you; We Should Be, which is smooth, melodic, and can make your insides do flips; and Long Gone Missin, which is good to listen to when you're upset with your significant other. Trey's album has a range of songs from cheating to being totally in love. Its great for any mood you could possibly be in. Not to mention his incredible voice. The sprinkles of rap also show his extreme versitility. All in all I LOVE IT!!! And you will to as long as you are open minded and like good music!!!

I brought this cd thinking it was gonna be as good as his first one...not the case to much tryin to rap, and it seems as if he fell into the trap that most r&b singers fall into...trying to have rapper or rap yourself on your cd...trust this cd was no where as good as his first..very dissapointed had high hopes for it

First off, Trey is a hell of a lot better than this...we all know that because of his first CD, but this one isn't complete garbage. To me there weren't any stand-out songs and the majority of them had mid-90's R. Kelly lyrics (but who doesn't like mid-90's R. Kelly). I was actually indifferent about this CD because I liked it, but it isn't the previous Trey that we all know and love. So let me breakdown the reason why I gave him 4 stars.

Star 1: I like him...his charm and charisma shines through on any track he does.

Star 2: I Gotta Make It...that album was just so damn good that I had to give him a star on this one for it.

Star 3: His mixtapes and underground stuff which held me over until this CD came out...they are good and if you don't have 'em...get 'em

Star 4: I liked the cd, but this album is along the lines of mixtape status except with new beats. So I guess that's why i didn't hate the album

But trust me if these aspects weren't involved he probably would had got would have only gotten the first 2 stars. Plus I'm starving for new and good R&B and I'll take it from where ever I can get it.

I really liked the CD, I was pleasantly surprised with the sound and subject matter. I don't know why everybody is hating on the album

I love this man's voice. Everyone can complain about the rapping and the raunchy lyrics but he does it well on this CD. I love it. Favorite Track is the The last time, well sung, he put his heart on this. Other standout tracks include Sex for yo' stereo, Grub on and Role play. I'm a little dissapointed to see other songs he recorded last year weren't added but this CD is hot. Definitely worth the money.

The second cd from Trey Songz is a mixed bag. There are definately some highlights here, notable are tracks like the single "Can't Help But Wait" along with "Missing You" and The Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis produced track "We Should Be." Unfortunately, most of this cd leans heavily towards fast food music and not the classic sounds that you hear from his debut cd "Just Gotta Make It." For an artist who can really sing, this outing doesn't really showcase his talents as a whole.
