Jim Dobbs has written a book that brings the reader to a new level of dog training expertise in two ways. First, this book is the concise reference for trainers that use electronic collars. Mr. Dobbs spent years developing the proper electronic collar training techniques while working for Tri-Tronics. Jim Dobbs no longer trains dogs; he trains trainers! Second, even if you do not use collars for dog training, this book will still be the most valuable training tool in your library. If you reach a certain point in your dogs training and your dog is having problems, Dobbs tells you exactly which step to revert to in you dogs prior training before graduating to more advanced work. This is NOT done in most other dog training books. This allows the trainer to make sure your dog is not advanced too quickly in his training, and it reinforces the basics your dog will need to succeed. The training insights that Jim Dobbs has written about will bring the reader to a whole new level of competence and understanding.

A great book by the way!

This book is old school training. It goes back to the very basic training of obidiance and builds from their. It is a good source of information for those who are just starting to use, or thinking of using and ecollar.

Shock avoidance is the objective of this book. It is intended as a correctional book for unwanted behavior, and field dog training aid.

I have a Waterdog training book in addition to this. I must say, being a new owner of a yellow lab this book is very thorough on the explanations and advice it gives on training dogs. My 11 wk lab now knows the commands sit, down, kennel, poop, look, you name it! A lot of people told me not to use treats when working with my dog, but the book shows how to effectively use, and phase out, treats. Definitely recommend this book to anybody!

A friend of mine owned this book and I briefly read through it. I thought it was an excelent source of information pertaining too hunting dog training.

Although I have not read from cover to cover the book contains some good information. The only other comment is that I did no think there was sufficient detail for anyone of the training tips.
