New Batches have bad taste,
By "Many of the ingredients, such as the vitamins and the iron used in our vitamin and mineral products, have an astringent or bitter taste that can be difficult to mask. We try to make our vitamin and mineral supplement drops as palatable as possible without excessive or unnecessary use of sweeteners or artificial flavors. Many quality control steps are taken during and after production of each batch of our products. We carefully inspect raw materials, make in-process checks and thoroughly examine each finished batch to ensure that it meets our high standards for physical appearance and nutrient content. We would not release a batch if it did not meet specifications. It is possible to observe some batch-to-batch variation in our products. Differences in raw ingredients may affect the taste, odor, or consistency. Each batch is tested before it is released, and we would not expect these differences to affect a baby's acceptance or tolerance of the formula." Now I have to search for an alternative.

Alternatives for Vitamin D?,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tri-Vi-Sol Vitamins A, D & C Supplement Drops for Infants, 50ml Bottles (Health and Beauty)
My daughter is now 3 months and exclusively breastfed. Her pediatrician recommended Vitamin D. I found polyvisol in the store, but the strong smell turned her off. I thought trivisol would be better tasting, but she refuses this as well from the dropper. She will only take it mixed in with expressed milk from a bottle. I will have to find another alternative. Although not recommended by American Pediatrics Association due to concerns for risk of skin cancer, my daughter is getting her vitamin D from the sun (< 15 minutes a day) until I find an alternative. However, doing my research most breast milk is lacking in vitamin D due deficiency in the mothers, as high as 75% in the population. Vitamin D in breast milk is equivalent to the mother's vitamin D levels. Perhaps, the mother having adaquate Vitamin D may be the alternative to giving breastfed babies supplements, but there is no consistent way to measure vitamin D in breast milk. That is why there is a blanket recommendation to give vitamin D supplement to babies.

Great to supplement breast fed baby diet.
I bought a year's supply. at retail pharmacies, it's about $10 per box, at amazon, it costs 3 boxes for $20. Dont buy the Poly-Vi Sol. It's not flavored like the TriVi Sol (cherry flavored). Your baby will hate the Poly VI Sol.

Iron changes the taste!,

Our breast fed baby loves his vitamins WITHOUT the iron. He gets so excited he does a little dance for them. But I accidentally bought the ones with iron and he hates them. If your baby hates the taste, my doctor recommended adding them to a bottle, where the breast milk will mask the taste. Just get ones without iron and you should be fine.

Just what the doctor ordered and the cheapest/ best place to find them with the free shipping (Prime).
Someone said you don't need some of these vitamins if you're breastfeeding, but that's besides the point. If your doctor recommends supplements, it could be for other reasons, and not all women can or want to breast feed for months or even a year. We have a very good doctor and he said this is the best thing for our infant baby at this time. Additives or not, it's pretty much the only artificial thing our child consumes.

Bad taste? We disagree!,

Some people on here have said that these vitamins have a bad taste. Not at all! It is a grape flavor- my son has loved it since he was a newborn- no trouble at all. I tried it too- it tastes good! The only downside of this product is that it is hard to get those last few remaining drops out of the bottle- the dropper doesn't go down that far. Also, every time I have bought it there has been a $2 coupon inside! With that coupon the lowest price I can find is at Target... sorry Amazon!

They don't really work if you can't get your child to take them! My son spits this out and has the worst and cutest look of disgust when I give him this brand. They taste and smell horrible. Try it for yourself!

I was told by our pediatrician that we should get these vitamin drops for the baby because my breast milk lacks them. I went to a couple of drugs stores on the way home and none of them carried the tri-vi-sol, they all had the poly-vi-sol and I didn't want to get a product that had too many other vitamins that my baby didn't need. When I got home I found this on amazon and was happy. There was another product that had iron in it which I decided against as it may sometimes cause constipation and I didn't want to chance. The product came in a timely manner and it smells sweet. My boy seemed to take to it fine and now recognizes the dropper and will open wide for his daily vitamins. Good product, will be purchasing again when we got through our three bottles.

My son loves these vitamins,

My son, who is now 13 months old, loves these vitamins. We have been giving him the Tri-Vi-Sol since shortly after he was born, and has enjoyed them ever since.
A note on the actual product: I was expecting this to be a single box with three bottles inside, but it actually was three single boxes. Same amount of vitamins either way, just a surprise to me.

I've been giving my newborn these drops without problem. I usually give her half a dropper at once, or she spits it out. But she has no problem with the taste. Easy to use, and she doesn't mind eating it - good enough for me!
