A year or so ago I had some vandalism trouble, including car damage and my house being egged. I thought it would be a good idea to get video camera to set up in the windows to record movement while I wasn't home. I tried the Uniden system that I bought at Walmart. While it is good for viewing and watching while turned on, with the included screen monitor, it wasn't easy to set up to record on the different sensitivity levels. You either recorded EVERYTHING for the allotted time, or very little. And I couldn't see anything that happened until I was home and reviewed recordings, such as they were. I now use it as a monitor for when my grandchild is over and supposed to be sleeping.

I tried the Trivision NC 217WF, a higher end camera and was most interested in the wireless feature. I liked the promised ability to be able to view goings on while away from home. Below I've listed my findings on this camera.

*The set up was easy, as long as you follow the included instruction guide. I wouldn't recommend just trying to plug in and expect results. Read the guide and follow the steps for the results you want. They are very clear.

*The "AnyScene" app has to be downloaded and the camera synced to it so you can view remotely. This was a bit of a process for the wireless to pick up and accept. Follow the guide exactly and you won't mess it up.

*Once the app is downloaded and your wireless accepts it, you can move the camera anywhere and plug it in.

*I tested out how far I would be able to view remotely. I work 10 miles from home and can check from work and see what's going on. And I can clearly see the dog get on the couch or the cat moving around. I really like this. This works because of WIFI at home and work.

This camera is excellent. It is very easy to setup - simply plug it into the wireless router, scan the code on the camera, and you're done for iphone setup. PC setup is easy too. The camera is excellent - the image is great. There are some awesome options as well - you can flip the image if you need to mount it upside down and you can take a snapshot of the video.

The camera is very good. My only gripe is that the audio could be better. But, the night vision is EXCELLENT. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. It's military grade.

I had to contact customer service with a few questions before I purchased it and they gave me an immediate response. They were very thorough and polite and I was extremely impressed with their courtesy and professionalism. They bent over backwards for me because I had to get some detailed info before the purchase and I had to get more tech specs after I purchased it (for my employer). Each time, they wrote back quickly and accurately.

This is a great, compact camera for a great price. For those asking about the size, it's about 3.5 inches by 1.5 inches by 3.5 inches. I highly recommend it.

Looked around a bit for a quality camera that we'd like to eventually use as a baby monitor and found this.

Setup: Extremely easy - quick scan of the QR and entering general information and you're up and running
App: I have both the iOS and Android app and both work fairly well - no real bells and whistles, although they're not really necessary.
Picture Quality: Had to mess with this a bit to ensure the camera didn't get too far from our router as quality suffered when you do but overall it looks great. We use it to monitor our dogs today in both dark and light and both look fantastic.
Sound: Very good for the size of the camera - wasn't expecting much but it is quite crisp.

Overall: Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to a DropCam or any other security camera.

Why did I buy this "wireless" camera/monitor?
1. because it is wireless
2. because it sets up in three easy steps
3. because it did not require extra software
4. because you can install a tiny microSD card for hours of recording, instead of using a bulky DVD-r

I was able to connect the camera by cable to my router. I could download an iPhone app that did recognize the camera, and allowed me to see the camera's feed with sound. I could record on my phone both snap shots and video with sound, and also receive motion alerts without any video or picture.

My first problem was trying to go wireless. Once you link the monitor to your LAN, disconnect the cable from the router and the monitor should still be connected to your network. That was not the case, every time, the monitor went "off line." The app has a possible wireless set up where you add the camera by reading the bar code, but this didn't work. The full instructions say that if you have a complex modem to wireless router (and who doesn't?), then the set up may be more difficult. To set up wirelessly, first rename your network [to a name listed in the manual], then remove all security and passwords. Uh, say what now? Ok, I am not daring enough to do that, so now, my wireless monitor is cable-bound. This might be fine, if I wished to monitor my router, or run long cables through my house, or perhaps if I needed a baby monitor, and my baby slept next to the router.

Second, nothing in trying to set this up was easy, except downloading the app to my phone. But the phone app is limited, and for many of the set-up functions, you need a PC. My Mac could not find the monitor, no matter what I tried.
