Product Description

Product Description

Optimal results, we recommend a complete treatment course of at least 6-8 treatments over a 6-8 month period

Designed for use on individuals with light to medium skin tones and dark hair

While some experience discomfort, ranging from a warm, prickling sensation to the feeling of a rubber band lightly snapping against the skin, others experience no discomfort at all. The amount of discomfort can depend on the density of the hair thats being treated, so be sure to begin your treatment with a super-close

Laser hair removal is based on the principles of selective photothermolysis. This is a process by which diode laser energy targets the dark pigment in the hair follicle, where the light energy is absorbed and transformed into thermal energy (heat). This energy heats the hair follicle to such a degree that it disables the hair follicle (the source of life for each hair on the body) and causes the hair to gradually fall out. The TRIA laser features a patented form of this technology called Diffuse Radiance TechnologyTM that takes coherent light and scatters it. This unique technology is what makes the TRIA device a safe Class I laser rather than a dangerous Class IV laser.

2.0 out of 5 stars Product does not live uo to the claims, September 16, 2009
If you read many of the review on this site and [...] you will find many positive reviews. Many of the reviews are given the product for free write a review and possibly even paid a small sum of money by the company. However, if you read many of the message boards from users that have no connection with the company, you will hear a different story. Many of the users have noticed that this product does not permanently remove hair. This is because the strength of the pulse is too weak to actually kill the hair. Instead, what happens is the hair follicle is shed but the root remains. I have also used this product extensively and found the exact same results. If you are looking to treat large areas such as the back, legs, or even chest then DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. The actually surface area that emits the pulse is about the size of the tip of your pinky finger. When using the laser you have to overlap by 50% as well. Again, what you can expect is lighter hair, but you will not see permanent reduction in hair (only for a few weeks).
My advice would be to wait a few years until the home lasers have become more effective and can emit a strong enough pulse to actually cause permanent hair reduction. In two years I`m sure the market will be flooded with home lasers. I hope you find this review helpful in making a decision.

4.0 out of 5 stars First time Tria use, June 5, 2009
I paid for 5 treatments of professional laser hair removal on my bikini area and under arms with great results. I just tried my Tria on my leg for the first time today.. The unit itself seems well made and has some weight to it. It looks and feels expensive. Nice packaging as well. The skin sensor is fun, definatly get a red light on bruises. I tried it on all three settings. Low and Medium had me wondering if it was even on. On high, after the third try it finally gave that little snap so I knew it was working. I dont think you'll ever see results on low or medium unless your skins is bone white and your hair is dark brown. I am beige. I was able to use it for approximately 20 minutes on a full charge on the highest setting before it turned itself off needing to be charged. I'm assuming the claimed one hour battery life is for low or medium settings only. I did one half of one leg just below the knee. I'm going to let it do it's 3 hour charge and do some more until I get both legs done today.

The Tria has half the laser strength of the doctor's office ones. I can tell this by how little I feel the snaps as compared to the one the doctor used. The Tria is 1/4 or less of the doctor's office price too so that sells it for me.

Quality, it gets 5 stars, usability gets 5 stars, it only gets 4 stars for strength and battery charge. I'll update my review after several more treatments and let you know if I saw the same results as the doctor. So far I'm NOT sorry I purchased it. I would never be able to afford to have my legs done at the doctors. Just the bikini and under arms were $300 per visit. The Tria has a 1 year warranty. Unfortunately you won't see any results before the 30day return policy is up. The Doctors office took 4-5 visits before I was impressed with the result. I'd assume it will take twice that with this device to be able to compare due to the lower strength. I'm sure they toned it's laser strength down to get FDA clearance and I appreciate that they finally got something out on the market for home use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its PERMANENTly worth it!, May 6, 2009
Tria laser worked well with me. My husband bought it for me and tried it for himself. How different we are!

The main question is how you can handle PAIN? if you've had brazilian waxing, then it means you can tolerate pain so I'd advise you to get this one because it does work for me.

Its expensive but if you do your math on waxing or shaving expenses plus time, its worth it.

My husband can only go to one power notch, while I can go to the send or third depending on my adrenaline/morphine rush. It can be painful but its worth it because it works.

oops.. i realize you're not supposed to use it on your bikini area. Well, i'm desperate for a solution down there and it seems to be working well for me.
