Book Description

Harlequin Super Romance May 1, 1999
It isn't easy being a kid. Life's a trial for nine-year-old Nick Porter. His grandfather wants him to be good at sports, but he's hopeless. His grandmother wants him to eat vegetables, but he hates them. His aunt Andrea—who's his guardian—is nice, but she's always on him about school and manners and stuff.

It isn't easy being an adult. Tony's worked hard to escape his past, and that means business always has to come first. So he's less than happy when he's called for jury duty during crucial merger negotiations. Then he meets Andrea Evans and starts to think it might be time to put pleasure before business….

It isn't easy being a family. If Tony's going to have a chance with Andrea, he'll have to win over her nephew. And something tells him Nick will be a formidable opponent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A warm relationship drama, May 1, 1999

This review is from: Trial Courtship (Harlequin Superromance No. 843) (Paperback)
In Shaker Heights, Ohio, nine years old Nicky has lived for the past year and a half with his single Aunt Andie Evans ever since his parents died. Andie loves her nephew, but cannot get him to rebound from his deep grief. At the same time that she feels as if she is failing in her personal life, her toy store has been a big success. However, with the holidays coming up, Andie receives notice to report for jury duty. Even though the timing is bad, an excited Andie looks forward to performing her patriotic duty.

Tony Urbanski is the newest partner in the Great Lakes Management Group. He currently is working a major merger deal when he learns jury duty awaits him. Tony, a workaholic due to the demons of growing up in an alcoholic home, loathes serving on a jury.

The Judge selects Tony and Andie to serve along side ten other individuals. As the murder case plays out in the courthouse, Tony and Andie meet and fall in love. However, he distrusts anything that interferes with his life goal of reaching the top of the business world. She fears what a male intrusion will do to the fragile psyche of Nicky.

TRIAL COURTSHIP is a warm contemporary romance that places an emphasis on relationships. The interplay between the lead characters, Nicky, and the lad's grandparents is filled with affection and conflict. The interaction among the twelve angry jurors provides additional group dynamics. Laura Abbott writes a beautiful love story whose story line enhances the multitude of temporary and permanent social relationships that individuals form as members of modern society.
