3.0 out of 5 stars Too short, too fast, too predictable!, March 5, 2000

This review is from: Trial Engagement (Harlequin Romance) (Paperback)
Throw in 100 more pages, and it may get 5 stars. This book has potentials to be a very good romance. Mike Black is a US Marshall who should keep federal witness, Candee, safe until she testified in court. Thus he hid her in his brother's ranch as his fiancee. Candee doesn't like the idea but likes the man. Only he doesn't want to be seduced. There is more to develop here, such as Candee's traumatic experience left her terrified to venture outside her house, always suspicious of her surrounding and her dependency to Mike's protection. But BM did not go deeper on this issue. Candee's inner battle never revealed to the readers. In the end it's just a light but sweet romance story.
