Book Description

From ITW Thriller Award nominee for best novel, Robert Gregory Browne, comes:

Ethan “Hutch” Hutchinson hasn’t seen his old college pals in nearly ten years. Now fate has brought them together again as one of the gang is put on trial for a brutal, senseless murder.

The Chicago police and prosecutor think they have their perp, but Hutch isn’t about to sit silently in a courtroom as someone he cares about—someone he loves—is wrongfully convicted.

When Hutch and his friends join forces to search for the real killer, what they find shatters every notion they have about friendship, loss and redemption…
…and may very well cost Hutch his life.

“Browne delivers again with Trial Junkies. Great characters, sharp, smart dialogue and a mystery I dare you to solve. It doesn’t get any better than this.”

~Cindy Gerard, New York Times Bestselling Author of Last Man Standing

“With the emotion-tugging nostalgia of The Big Chill and the catch-your-breath plot twists of Runaway Jury, Trial Junkies is not only a must-read, it’s destined to be a classic.”

~Debra Webb, nationally bestselling author of the Faces of Evil series

From the Author

The ideas for Trial Junkies and its sequel Negligence arose from a life experience.
Years ago, I worked as a "criminal intake clerk" at the Honolulu Public Defenders Office, and part of my job was to go to court every Monday to help potential clients secure an attorney. During my downtime, I'd often sit in on trials and motions in the various courtrooms and soak up the drama.
After weeks of this, I noticed that a lot people in the gallery were faces I'd seen over and over again. These so-called "trial junkies" were as fascinated by the legal process as I was.
An aspiring screenwriter at the time, I began to formulate a story idea about a group of these regular trial watchers getting involved in solving a murder mystery, and that idea percolated in the back of my mind for many years.
It wasn't until recently that I struck upon the notion of making my trial watchers a group of old college pals who reunite to help one of their own, and when it hit me, I knew that I finally had a story I could tell.
I don't think I've had a better time writing than I did with Trial Junkies. I hope you'll enjoy it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diehard Fan!! May 17, 2012
By Terri
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished reading Robert Browne's newest release Trial Junkies. And, while I'm not a fan of reading legal thrillers, this novel not only kept me turning the pages (and made me forget I had something on the stove--oops) but it confirmed what I already knew: Mr. Browne is one freakin' talented writer! His books are so tightly written and full of twists and turns, you never see the ending until you get there.

Trial Junkies follows Ethan "Hutch" Hutchinson, a washed up actor, who hasn't seen his old college pals in nearly ten years. When one of the friends is brutally murdered, he returns to Chicago and reaches out to his former roommates to find the real killer before his best friend--and the woman he loves --is wrongfully convicted.

Trial Junkies is not only a pulse-pounding, edge of your seat story, but the characters are so real they jump off the page. And the ending is so extraordinary, even I didn't see it coming. I bought and read the book the same was that good. This is definitely one of my keepers and one I may have to read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trial Junkies... A Real Engagement of the Brain May 21, 2012
By Jeb
Format:Kindle Edition
Trial Junkies by Robert Gregory Browne will keep you up all night. I found myself immersed in the story from page one. The personalities of the people in this book are so well developed that you very quickly feel as though you recognize them and understand their behaviors and decisions. I am being careful in this review not to give away any of the curves in this story. I finished the book wishing that I wasn't finished, I enjoyed it that much. Buy it, read it, review it, and then perhaps we can convince Mr. Browne that a sequel is vital.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Thriller From Robert Gregory Browne May 18, 2012
By Elly
Format:Kindle Edition
I forfeited sleep for this novel. (If you knew me and how important proper rest is to my health, you would fully understand that comment.)With the first sentence, Robert throws this book into high gear and doesn't slow it down until it ends. Robert Gregory Browne's foray into the Legal Thriller genre is a complete success. TRIAL JUNKIES is a fast paced puzzle you WILL NOT want to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Nothing Else! May 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Before you start reading Trial Junkies by Robert Gregory Browne, I want to offer you some advice.

Let the dog out. Put the kids to bed. Give your spouse-ish a snack and the remote. Turn off your phone. Shut down the laptop. Do not answer the door.

Ignore everything in your life that needs to be done.

Once you read the first line of Chapter One, you will forget everything else anyway. You might as well prepare for it.

When Robert B. Parker passed away, I lost my favorite crime writer.

I have been in abject mourning.

Ring those bells, I have thrown off the black!

As a fiction editor and more importantly, an avid mystery/crime/thriller/suspense reader, I have read it all.

I have slogged my way through drek.

Alternately, I have tiptoed stealthily through the dark recesses and alleyways and deserted buildings of the best prose on the planet.

And I can say wholeheartedly--and gleefully--that Robert Gregory Browne's latest, Trial Junkies, is the best of the best.

You will not see it coming. I didn't. And I have solved every single crime in every single book I've ever read.

Browne literally has no "tell."

This book is brilliant.

Robert, you are my hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing! May 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a mystery author, I tend to consider myself a bit more savvy than the average reader and often dismiss novels after the first few chapters because they are so "been there, done that," it's not worth my time to read further to affirm my conclusions.
TRIAL JUNKIES is my first Robert Gregory Browne read, and you'll excuse me if I keep this review rather short, but I'm in a hurry to start reading all his other books...
From the first paragraph of TRIAL JUNKIES I was pulled into the book and as the characters were introduced, I began to feel I was one of them, and immediately bonded in the search for the killer. I totally gave myself over to the story, losing all sense of who and where I was--instead I lived in Chicago with a dear group of friends trying to find a vicious killer.
Of course that's just skimming the very top of the tale, but I don't want to give away any of the excitement in this phenomenal page-turner. I can't remember the last time I read a book in twenty-four hours, but I could not put this one down. I literally fell asleep reading it, and when I awoke, continued reading. You should be warned: Even this smug, know-it-all mystery writer was blind-sided by the ending. Never saw it coming!
I don't know how I could have missed this guy Browne for so long, but you can bet that within the next week I'll be up-to-date on all his novels and looking forward to his next entry... C.K. Laurence

This book is great for distracting yourself from the my dance stuff you have to do every day. The characters are very interesting, the plot is extremely involving, and the writing is vivid and quick-paced.

5.0 out of 5 stars INSANE! May 27, 2012
By Molly
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm the type of person, who'll give a book about 3 chapters worth of chance, and if I'm not intrigued, it just doesn't make the cut. Trial Junkies had me instantly enthralled. The whole time I read this book, my brain was running about a million miles an hour, trying to anticipate the next turn of events. But you can't. It's just so perfectly crafted with surprise, intensity, mystery, and determination that you almost don't want to guess, you don't want to ruin it for yourself. But again, that would be impossible. You go through so many possibilities in your mind as to who did what, only to find out you couldn't have possibly been more off base. Which I LOVED! It isn't arrogant, or full of itself, as so many newer thriller books seem to be. A truly great and enjoyable book, from an amazingly talented author. HIGHLY recommended. I think I've alienated every single friend I have this week. You just CAN'T stop reading it. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to reading more of his works.

5.0 out of 5 stars a good thriller
I love James Patterson's books but this was just as good in a different way. It kept you in suspense but had a slower pace without 5 or so murders in one book. First rate!
