I'm a Florida attorney who doesn't spend much time in the court room. I'm not a litigator by trade but it's an important skill set to have for any attorney. I found several very solid trial skills tools in book form on Amazon. Thomas Mauet has a pretty good book that I think you can get online. Once I read about trial techniques I found myself really wanting to see it in action (Law & Order wasn't going to cut it). The Trial Skills Live DVD was a great find for me. There's another Mock Trial video online at amazon.com but it costs $250 and the author didn't bother putting up a picture -- which made me more than a little skeptical about spending that much money. Long story short, I'm pretty happy with this DVD. The opening and closing argument chapters are particularly great and I really liked the creativity with the animated segment.

As a university professor who makes frequent use of video clips to make points in the classroom, I'm always looking for ways to create "hooks" that bring ideas to life. I'd say this video really delivers. It will be useful to individuals, but also can serve as a nice example for classroom use. The instructor can show a quick clip, then open a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the dramatization the class just witnessed. I'm impressed with the way the material highlights oral presentation, argument formation, and persuasion. Bravo!

I am interested in attending law school to eventually become a trial attorney. I wanted a video that showed what it was like to be in court and showed the the different techniques used in a real court of law. The price of this video is good. Each chapter showed a different type of presentation in court which is cool. I was able to see what the trial experience is all about. I would definitely recommend this video to anyone who is interested in the courtroom - I don't think there is any other product like it.

This video is great for trial prep or for anyone who needs key directions on how to be an effective public speaker. I definitely recommend it.

As an undergrad I took a great public speaking course that embedded in me the concept that "How you say something" is more important then "What you say". Unfortunately, one of the greatest problems with law school is that while they bombarded you with information, very little time is spent teaching you how to effectively deliver it in a courtroom. Trial Skills Live filled that void and gave me more confidence in my courtroom delivery!
