Unpretentious supergroup, September 27, 2005

Liz Carroll on fiddle, Daithi Sproule (long a member of Altan) on guitar and vocals, and Billy Mccomiskey on accordion whip out the jigs and reels. Guitar plays back up rhythm to the flying lead duets and solos of fiddle and box. The first set of reels alone are worth the price of the CD: it starts out fast, then each tune in the set turns a corner and gets faster. I confess that I could live without the songs on the CD, but overall this is such an upbeat collection of tunes played so well that I could rate most of this 5 stars. Amongst the traditional tunes you'll get to hear a few of Carroll's fine compositions.
