Tribal Rugs,
This review is from: Tribal Rugs (Paperback)
The book offers good historical information on weavings and simple ways to identify where a piece may have been made and by whom. The information is presented in condensed form in the first pages with references to the many plates that make up the balance of the book. Most of the plates are in color and are of good, representative pieces.
I have a personal preference for "Persian" tribal rugs and weavings find this book helpful. I also appreciate the fact that there is no "art talk" - just a clear, condensed appreciation for the subject.

This review is from: Tribal Rugs (Paperback)
Why would anyone publish a book about Tribal Rugs with almost all BLACK AND WHITE ILLUSTRATIONS. If I didn't live so far from the U.S. - I would return it. All of the other books I purchased about Tribal rugs, oriental rugs, etc . have all color illustrations. This book was a complete waste of money and the author should be ashamed of putting out a book of this type with Black and White illustrations.

This reference is a must-have addition to any collector's library. Author studied and lived among the tribes from which her beautiful rugs were woven. Illustrations are gorgeous! Tribal life is well-illustrated as well. Other contemporary authors of oriental rug books highly recommend this book! |
