This is the first CD I have ever bought, or heard, from Native Americans. Now, I listen to it over and over and over again, no matter what I am doing. It is very beautiful with a variety of calming, moving sounds. You can feel the music move right through you, clensing your mind, body and senses. I definitely recommend this CD above all others.

The 2-star review by Katherine Marek ("More music, less talk,") is very misleading. There is very, very little talking on this CD. Only the first introductory track has 50 seconds of a Native American elder speaking about Mother Earth and water. It is in fact one of my favorite songs on this CD. The rest of that song is the same elder in a traditional chant with native drum and river sounds. If you don't like it, skip it. I have over 1,600 Native American flute songs on my I-Pod and these 13 songs rank among the best of them. You'll enjoy it very much, even the "Yada, yada, yada"... following in it's entirety:
"Water is very important to all the living things. Not only the human; the plant live; the animal life; the rock life... We the people, we the living things on this Mother Earth, is part of that water. Someday, we're not going to have clean water. So let's appreciate the water - Sing to the water, to make the Water Spirit happy. Save it for all the living things on this Mother Earth of ours. Today - it's really important for us. The water flows over the Mother Earth - it comes out of the ground - clean as can be - fresh."

Lovely.
The Native American peoples of this country have a lot to offer; it's about time that white American start to listen. I only wish that there had been a translation included. I am sure that what is being said is out of this world great.

If your looking for authentic Native American music, then this CD has what you want. Its based on water so many of the tracks contain soft noises of running streams, rain, thunder and sometimes birds chriping. To me all this does it helps set it up like your listening to the music played next to a lake or stream or in celebration of a storm...its very nice. There are a couple tracks that feature some commentary from Natives, very very wise words. He speaks of how the fresh water on this planet is quickly becoming scarce. One of my favorite lines from the track Wind River: "Long for the days when the earth had four corners, the water circle carved out the streams, the lakes, the rivers. The waters ran swiftly, unabated, uninhibited....and the world had four corners" followed by a Native call echoing in the distance. Overall its a great CD, very nice listening.

I just love listening to this Native American CD with various Natives singing in their native languages! Its sounds so spiritual and inspirational just listening to my Native American people sing!! I recommend this CD for my fellow Native brothers and sisters or for anyone who loves listening to Native music.

Corbin Harney Western Shoshone Elder & Spiritual Leader, opens this excellent CD with his Water Song from the Sunrise Prayer Circle. This song is not listed on the CD review. Corbin Harney is the executive director of both the Poo-Ha-Bah Healing Center in Tepoca CA and the Shundahai Network in Las Vegas NV, these organizations have evolved into an international network of activists and organizations bridging the gap between the environmental, peace and justice and indigenous land rights communities.

More music, less talk,
This review is from: Tribal Waters: Music From Native Americans (Audio CD)
I buy CDs like these (Native American flute and drum) for the music. I find it very soothing when I want to relax or as background music at small get-togethers. On this CD somewhere towards the end of the first track or maybe the middle of the second track, a man begins giving a speech or maybe a sermon about clean water and how soon we won't have any, yadda, yadda, yadda. It's not that I'm insensitive to the serious current threats to our environment. But I thought I was buying soft music to relax to.
