You cannot believe it is one dude playing one guitar!, January 4, 2001
This review is from: A Tribute To Bob Marley (Audio CD)
At first hearing, you might think these are pleasant enough renditions of elevator-ready Marley covers performed by 3 acoustic guitarists. Then you realize there is only one fingerliscious cat playing bass, rhythm and lead simultaneously in real time on one guitar! The subsequent look on your face -- as though recently lobotomized and improperly medicated -- owes to futile mentation, to attempts at envisioning what Bub's fingers are doing to make it happen with such drive and touch. This is the real deal holyfield.

Recommendable, January 3, 2006
This review is from: A Tribute To Bob Marley (Audio CD)
Fine Bob Marley tribute album. Well known Bob Marley songs instrumental (no vocals) recorded by an excellent guitarist. Most I like "Waiting In Vain", "Exodus", "Stir It Up", "Is This Love" and "No Woman No Cry".

Another way to experience Marley's genius, July 1, 2009
This review is from: A Tribute To Bob Marley (Audio CD)
I heard several tracks on XM Radio's "The Joint" channel (what a treasure that is!) and HAD to have the whole CD. Session guitarist Bub Roberts brilliantly captures the feel and groove of Bob Marley's classic recordings on solo acoustic guitar. On the surface, the thought of instrumental versions of Marley's anthems may sound too much like new-age-meets-reggae, but the result is great! -- so much so that XM's rotation of these tracks created a minor web sensation as people frantically searched for this long out-of-print recording (definitely the best of Bub's 5-CD "Tribute" series. It appears that Bub may be planning a new version, so frustrated CD seekers should try to be patient.
