16049 · A Tribute to Charlie Parker Vol. 2Part two of the above tribute, however with quite different musicians. Here we see and hear the Phil Woods Quartet and the Jon Hendricks Group. Woods is absolutely one of the most talented alto saxophonists of the Parker tradition. With Hal Galper on piano, Steve Gilmore on bass and Bill Goodwin on drums. The other part of the film consists of the Jon Hendricks vocal ensemble, in actual practice this means 4, among others Hendricks and Kevin Burke. 8 jazz classics quite in the spirit of Parker with 5 vocalists and a trio - very good on film! Equally great sound and picture quality. |
