What an insult.,

This review is from: Tribute to Faith No More: Tribute of the Year (Audio CD)
Faith No more were my favorite band, so when I found out that there was a tribute album made for them, I was immediantly interested in hearing it. Oh, how disappointed I was. A band as great as Faith No More deserve a better tribute than this.
I immediantly knew something was wrong when I heard the first track, "Stripsearch". They did an okay job with the keyboards, but the vocals are off-key and sound nothing like Patton. As I progressed through the album, I began to wonder if these bands had even heard any Faith No More songs before. Most of these sound absolutely NOTHING like the originals. A perfect example would be "A Small Victory", which sounds like a band trying to copy Mr. Bungle. The rest of the songs sound like they're industrial or death metal, two genres which Faith No More were never a part of. Not only that, but there are more than one versions of each song. It's bad enough to hear Bile butcher my favorite FNM song, "Midlife Crisis", but then I have to hear another band do it again. The majority of the album is crap, but here are the worst: "We Care a Lot" (Disc 1, track #3). How emotionless is this guy? If you're doing a tribute for one of your favorite bands, you should at least put a little effort into it. "Another Body Murdered". The original version of this song didn't even have any singing from the band - it was a rap track by the Boo-Ya Tribe that had Mike making noises in the chorus and Faith No More playing the instruments in the background (that should already tell you how bad this is going to be). Anyway, this 'tribute' version is definitely the worst song on the entire album. It sounds like some squeaky voiced, 18 year old white guy trying to act tough. "As the Worm Turns". Words cannot describe how bad this one is. It's a guy slowly TALKING, not singing, to a very boring beat. I'm beginning to think that this is the worst track. While "ABM" was amusing in how bad it was, there are no redeeming qualities to this cover whatsoever. "Everything's Ruined". The vocals are terribly distorted (probably to cover up a lack of vocal range) and the beat sounds nothing like the original. "Naked In Front of the Computer". This sounds like some awful mainstream rock band such as Three Days Grace or Trustcompany. I hate current mainstream rock, so I obviously hate this as well. There are a few decent covers, but the originals are superior in every way, so there's no point in listening to the imitations. Avoid at all costs.

I actually don't mind the odd tribute cd. KISS my ass wasn't too bad, but this is awful. Listening to bunch of nobody bands doing terrible mike patton impersonations to raped FNM tracks is not the way I like to spend my time. I took this CD and threw it out my window. The sound of it smashing against the road was music to my ears. Thanks for ruining the songs of one of my favorite bands

worst tribute ever,

I sat there listening to this CD and thought to myself this is the worst attempt at "re-doing" any group of songs ever let alone Faith No More songs. Did Mike Patton have any say over this or was this a cheap label decision aimed at making a few bucks? There should be a disclaimer on the cover that says, " This CD Sucks!"

Horrible, only one point worth mentioning...,

The other reviewers have pretty much nailed it on the head with this one. Come to think of it, getting nailed on the head almost sounds like a better option than listening to this again. But one thing worth noting is the appearance of the band TUB RING on here. There's a slight FNM connection there in that they have been produced by Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle/Secret Chiefs/insert the other million side projects here. Honestly, if I want to hear Bungle, I go for Bungle, not for some band trying to sound like Bungle like Tub Ring or those other boys, Dog Fashion Disco. But, it's not a bad attempt and I can't fault them for trying. Other than that bit of trivia though, this double-cd is a complete and utter waste of time (as are most of these tributes). Definitely avoid this one like the plague.

Why aren't there "0" stars? When I saw this CD I bought it on the spot, no questions asked. With FNM being the source material, and there being 2 discs worth of covers, there had to be AT LEAST ONE GOOD SONG, RIGHT!? Not so. I would have to be suspicious as to whether or not any of these "bands" even exist, or if one guy with a keyboard sampler and an iMac got a few friends to sing into his computer. Each song sounds the same- cheesy techno beat, bad vocals that are poorly produced. The only difference is the voice. Please do not buy this, ever, for any price. This is the worst CD I have ever bought, and I hate myself for it. Okay, that was too much. I still can't get over how bad this is- 2 cd's just make it twice as bad.

I'm really sorry for sincerety..but this album is simply DISGUSTING! How can Faith No More, one of the biggest bands of 90', be tributed with bad arranged songs, lack of creativity and so bad taste? I hope that a TRUE TRIBUTE can be released in the future. My favorite band can't be shamed with this ...

Okay, I get it. These bands purposely did excruciatingly bad covers of Faith No More songs in an attempt to goad the band into reforming, right? I mean, that HAS to be the reason for this, doesn't it? Why else would goth bands with DRUM MACHINES want to do songs previously recorded by master drummer Mike Bordin? Are these really the only bands in the world who wanted to pay tribute to Faith No More? To hear some of my absolute favorite FNM songs (Malpractice, Jizzlobber, Midlife Crisis, Digging The Grave, Surprise! You're Dead!) butchered like this almost makes me believe in the existence of Satan. Please, FNM collectors, no matter how much it hurts you to do so, pass this one by.

Cut off both your hands, boil your head in oil for a week and trap your genitals in a vice for a month. It's still more pleasant than this. A horrid attempt to cash in on the FNM name. Absolutely the worst set of covers I've ever heard. Possibly the worst album ever. Absolute [poop]. Need I go on?

we don't care alot,
This review is from: Tribute Of The Year - A Tribute To Faith No More (MP3 Download)
This tribute album is devoid of any talent or respect for FNM. Tribute albums generally suck, this one sounds more like a willful insult. Unbelievable!
