This review is from: The Tribute: The Malloy Family, Book 6 (Kindle Edition)
1889
For the first time ever Brett Malloy owns something that is his and his alone. Growing up in a large family meant that he didn't have much privacy or anything that belonged to only him. Over the past year he's kept a huge secret from everyone. He won a ranch in a poker game but out of respect for the ailing owner opted to allow him to live out his days on the ranch and Brett would take over after he's gone. It's time for him to take possession of the ranch but he wants more than the ranch . . . he wants to marry his childhood crush Alex but she's not about to give him a second chance. Dr. Alexandra Brighton has always loved Brett but he broke her hearts years earlier and she isn't about to forgive him and allow him the opportunity to hurt her again. She's busily caring for the medical needs of the community, her father's alcoholism, and fending off advances from a very determined King Dawson. It would have been fairly easy to keep rejecting Brett's attempts at courtship until an injury lands him in her care and reignites all the passion she's tried so hard to bury. Brett's enthusiasm for his ranch wanes when he gets his first good look at the ranch. The barn is in bad condition, the house is a mess and there's a whole city's worth of mice that's taken up residence in a mattress in one of the bedrooms. Brett's determined to turn the ranch into a place he can be proud of and with the help of his friend and ex-gunslinger Kincaid he just may succeed. Now if he could just get Dr. Alex to give him a chance to show her how great they could be together then his life would be perfect. There's just the little problem of the pompous King's convoluted ideas that Alex belongs to him and his insane jealousy of Brett. Beth Williamson thrills her readers with this newest installment in her MALLOY FAMILY series. There's no shortage of wonderful characters who will draw readers into the storyline and keep you eagerly reading. Brett is the middle child of the family and has definite feeling about wanting stuff for himself that has nothing to do with his family. I could easily understand why he would feel that way, but I love that the Malloy families are always willing to lend a helping hand when the need arises. I adored Alex! She's tough yet loving and that's obvious especially with her dog Ug. King truly annoyed me. He's so convinced that anything he wants should be handed to him on a silver platter and if it isn't then he'll destroy it. He's a spoiled child in an adult body. Brett and Alex's feelings for each other have never faded but they've spent many years apart and it's great to see a love like that reunited. THE TRIBUTE is the sixth book in the MALLOY FAMILY series. Chrissy Dionne (courtesy of Romance Junkies)

The Tribute,
This review is from: The Tribute (Malloy Family, Book 6) (Paperback)
Brett Malloy is the most quiet of the Malloy siblings. He likes to do things for himself without any help from anyone. When he wins a ranch in a poker game, he doesn't even tell his family until after he takes possession of it. Now that he has a ranch, he is ready for a wife and only one woman will do: Alexandra Brighton, the woman who broke his heart twelve years ago.
Dr. Alexandra Brighton spends her days doctoring and her nights taking care of her alcoholic father. Working keeps her busy so that she doesn't have to think about him -- Brett Malloy, the boy, now a man, who devastated her life and heart twelve years ago. When Brett is hurt working on his new ranch, Alex patches him up and finds out that what she felt for Brett so long ago has only grown in the years following. The two hesitant lovers begin to explore their feelings once again, much to the consternation of a powerful man that has set his sights on Alex and he isn't willing to take no for an answer. He is willing to murder to possess Alex and it is up to Brett to someone find a way to keep her safe so that they can be together. The sixth book of the Malloy Family series, I anticipated The Tribute like no other. After six books you would think that the series has been played out and possibly begins to be redundant, but it hasn't by any means. If anything, this series has become stronger and more powerful with each installment. The Tribute made me put everything on hold until I could finish reading. I could have been Alexandra Brighton, she was that real to me. As for Brett, I have always been a sucker for a tall, regal, and quiet cowboy. I knew quite possibly that if Alex didn't come around, I would step in and take her place. Once again Beth Williamson has penned a western historical of worth. Full of love, life, and family, The Tribute was everything I wanted it to be and more. It is truly one of the best western historical novels I have read this year. Beth Williamson continues to be one of my favorite writers and I am happy to note that there is yet another installment to this spectacular series. Hurry please!
