4.0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction for Die Krupps Newbies who like Metallica
This was my first sample of Die Krupps. I was a Metallica fan (NOT, though, a blitheringly insane one), and just getting into the whole Industrial-type scene. My only previous pleasing exposure to the genre was Ministry, Sisters of Mercy, and old Nine Inch Nails. Everything else just struck me as noise. I believe that the "familiarity" of this particular...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worthy of covering metallica
What the hell were you thinking trying to cover metallica?? there are very few bands if any that could cover metallica. YOU ARE DEFINITLY NOT ONE OF THEM.

Its cool to listen to. It sound like these versions are off from a video game for sega genesis.
I'm giving this 5 stars because they took a risk and make these songs like if they were there's instead of hearing the same ol many times before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Job, totally worth buying, March 29, 1999
This review is from: Tribute to Metallica (Audio CD)
Hmm, I should admit that so many core-metallica fans would dislike this stuff. But I think this is very(yes, very) interesting variation based on die Krupps's own translation from the original. Actually I first got this when I was in Korea three years ago, and I bought it here in Houston again. I love this stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Difference is good for you..., March 4, 1999

This is a truly original piece of work. Metallica originally is alright music, but when it is transalted and updated like this it really rocks. Jurgen Engler and Die Krupps are the masters of hard-driving synthesizer/metal music (together with KMFDM) and here they show that they master the genre. Metallica has never been so heavy and aggressive as in these versions.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best tribute albums ever produced, October 7, 2008
This review is from: Tribute to Metallica (Audio CD)
Fantastic reimagining of classic Metallica tracks by the great classic rivetheads, Die Krupps. Of course, what some of these other reviews fail to acknowledge is that you need to enter into this CD with an open mind. It's Die Krupps doing Metallica NOT DK imitating Metallica. If you want cheap imitations chose one of the many craptastic numetal bands that current plague the airwaves. If you want ingenuity & creativity on par w/ Metallica's earlier years, then give this disc a whirl.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unless your a fan of Electronica.. This may not be the best., March 5, 2003
This review is from: Tribute to Metallica (Audio CD)
I usually hate Tribute cds, and Coversongs.. but this one I actually did Enjoy and Im a HUGE metallica fan.. the vocals arent the best.. but at least its not Grave Digger's extremely harsh vocals that appear on Excalibur.. but I love the Electronica in the backgrounds Esp in Enter Sandman.

In case you havent realized I am a techno freak as well.. My friends call me a very Ecletic fellow, because of my very diverse tastes.

I have to congratulate Die Krupps on a job well done for something I wouldnt even expect someone to do.. a Techno/Electronica remix of Metal songs.

A techno-remix of songs off And Justice For All and also some Master of Puppets. Ok, but seems very sacreligous to metallica fans... END

1.0 out of 5 stars Die Krap!!!, July 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Tribute to Metallica (Audio CD)
This CD is the biggest piece of crap I have ever heard. I'm proud to say that I don't own it, but I've heard much of its content. There is really no band worthy of covering Metallica, but this band is the least worthy. The awesome opening of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" was replaced by Techno-weird, and "The Unforgiven" beginning is mangled beyond recognition. I haven't actually heard their cover of "One", but I want to keep it that way, because it's my favorite song of all time. If I were James,Kirk,Jason,or Lars, I would sue these guys for all they're worth (which can't be that much). This CD should be titled "An Insult to Metallica".
