Editorial Reviews

Review

A gorgeous, jazzy tribute to the otherworldly gifted songwriter and sultry chanteuse, Norah Jones!

Features mature cover versions of the inspiring songs from Jones debut album Come Away With Me including Don t Know Why, Come Away With Me, The Long Day Is Over and more!

Jones rocked the music world at the 2003 Grammy Awards, winning a total of 5 grammys including Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance!

This tribute is yet another indication that Jones will be a very popular performer for years to come!

If her immensely acclaimed, indisputably auspicious debut album Don't Know Why is any indication, sultry chanteuse Norah Jones has the makings of a world-renowned phenomena the likes of which we haven't seen since Billie Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald. With a soft, inviting vocal style subtly emphasized by soothing piano melodies, Jones won over the hearts and minds of discerning listeners and music's elite, winning a total of 5 Grammys including Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Those awards were as deserved as the tribute album you are holding in your hands. In appreciation for the inspiration Jones has been to female artists the world over, a group of exceptionally talented musicians, songwriters and vocalists have reinterpreted the songs from Jones' debut album with the sort of honesty and passion Jones exudes. Come away with them on a journey through the most celebrated pop album of 2003. Enjoy! --Cleopatra Records

1.0 out of 5 stars Why? Why? Why?, July 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: A Tribute to Norah Jones (Audio CD)
Nobody in their right mind should purchase this "tribute album".
Why would you want to listen to the same songs done by a person with a lot lesser talent and the artistic skills of a chameleon. Buy the original! Norah Jones' name should not have been attached to this album. Somebody is just out trying to capitalize on her fame and talent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Barely tolerable, October 23, 2003

What a disappointment this turned out to be; I say save your money, and ask a rhetorical question to support my assertion:

If the tributes were any good, wouldn't the artists want to take credit for their performances?

There is nothing which identifies the performers of these inferior versions of Norah's delightful work. I'm no musician, but I'm musical enough to wish I hadn't bought this lackluster collection.

Her original crap is horrific enough. Why in God's name would we need a tribute album? Puts you to sleep even more effectively than Norah's unoriginal lullabies. At the very least, they could've waited till her second album came out, but....even then...even...if....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............
