4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Interpretations, OVERALL
1) Behind the Sun : Pretty good, but they made it a little harder 2)Savior: One of only two Californication covers, its pretty good. Like the real one. 3)POE Power of Equality is good, but the cover sucks, as they turn it into a metal song with an awful singer

4)Sexy Mexican Maid Cool version

5)Under The Bridge Sweet jazzy cover its sweet the rest are okay...

I thought that the songs where completely ruined. The only reason to buy this CD is if you are a diehard fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers like I did. Perhaps the only exception was the Under The Bridge cover.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good if you want to see some of the Chilis songs butchered, February 18, 2001

Well... Where to start? I love RHCP to death, and hopefully will cover many of their songs in the future. However, I would cover the songs and actually make them sound like what they should, not just use their lyrics and slap on the Chilis name. However, I must say...some of the songs are catchy and I respect the bands. The Solomon Burke Project, in my opinion, did a great job of covering Under The Bridge...it has a great solo at the end and adds in a nice little ditty at the end which I love. The cover of Savior was actually pretty good too. Some also made good attempts, but didnt catch my eye as much as Under The Bridge did... Suck My Kiss isnt bad, and as different as it sounds, I kind of enjoy Breaking The Girl. Catholic School Girls seems to be covered by a band that sounds exactly like the Chilis did back when they wrote it, so good luck to them. However, some songs just grate against my brain so badly that I cant listen to the song. Me And My Friends has been turned into a techno song, which I really do NOT enjoy, mainly because after the first couple of seconds, it sounds NOTHING like the real song, and they dont even use lyrics. It would be a formidable techno song if they didnt presume to be covering Me and My Friends. If you are willing to hear that happen...then I mildly suggest getting this album if you love RHCP.

All were pretty good just some were VERY different from teh original song.
1. Behind the Sun. Awesome I loved it even more than the original you have GOT to listen to the sample!
2. Savior. I really liked this one, almost like the original just a bit softer.
3. Power of Equality. Loved it, singer doesnt have the best voice but i still really liked.
4. Sexy Mexican Maid. I LOVED it! Listen to the sample. Just do it right now.
5. Under the Bridge. Didn't like it much, too soft.
6. Catholic School Girls Rule. Basically the same as the original.
7. Breaking The Girl. Turned into this like metal song... eurghh.
8. Scar Tissue. It was alright, the instrumental bridge, my favorite part of the song, was really different though.
9. Me and My Friends. You wouldn't really be able to tell it was the same song... it was very, uh, techno.
Overall Sexy Mexican Maid, Behind the Sun, and Savior were awesome, but don't get it if you really love the songs the way they are.
