5.0 out of 5 stars TG lives!!! October 8, 2006
Format:Audio CD
This is a very good TG tribute album. Classic TG "songs" reworked by some of music's underground artists. The tracks on this cd are not easy to listen to, some are harsh and grating, others are a bit Ambient type of sound, very strange and an interesting blend... pure noise kinda stuff. If you like noise, buy this cd, play it in your car turn up the volume, drive around the local mall and watch the reaction on the faces of those Led Zeppelin ACDC t-shirt wearing posers who are just coming out of Hot Topic or Virgin megastore.

BTW, the cd also came in a numbered limited edition of 100 copies, sandwiched between two square metal plates (the numbers are etched on one of the metal plates). Very rare and extremely hard to find, how cool is that?

3.0 out of 5 stars alright.... December 10, 2001
Format:Audio CD
i must admit i am not the great fan for tribute albums considering after finish listening them. i would always pine for the original artists. but since this is off invisible and NOT cleopatra records, i figure why not pick up this up. i enjoyed some of tracks but not all of them. i would recommend this album if you're fans of boyd rice, the melvins, lesser and msbr. the rest of the album is alright....

By Nick
Format:Audio CD
This album is by no means bad. Actually, this album is almost a near perfect tribute to TG. The reason I got this in the first place is because I love Throbbing Gristle and I saw that The Melvins and Non were on this album, both artists who I love just as much, and I thought it would be interesting to hear their take on such unique music. Turns out that there's a lot of great songs on this disc besides the ones done by Non and Melvins. Throbbing Gristle was a highly influential group and what is great about this album is that you get to hear genres of music they had a direct involvement in creating. All of the artists present bring their own twist to each of the songs but some take more liberty in changing the songs than others. Hot on the Heels of Love is easily recognizable but has a harsher quality to it, other tracks though, such as Hamburger Lady are very, very different from the originals. What's great about this is the history present in each track. Throbbing Gristle were hugely influential in electronic genres, particularly in the industrial genre, but also in dance music and noise. Sometimes the music is very techno and other times its trudging industrial or harsh blasting noise. Some of the best tracks on this album are the ones that stay true to the original but sound distinct from the real version. Discipline as covered by Non is a good example. It includes a lot of trademarks that make Non's music instantly recognizeable but it is very obvious that it's a Throbbing Gristle song, just with a more commanding vocalist, samples, and a heavier, trudging drum sound. All in all if you appreciate TG's music and their influence you should get this album.
