Product Description
Dinosaurs come alive as never before in this book with a tactile rubber cover and lifelike "photo essays" that will make you look twice!

Sixty-five million years ago in the North American West, a baby dinosaur struggles to hatch from its egg, looking as downy as a bird, its modern descendant. The baby dinosaur grows quickly, wrestling with its brothers and sisters, sprouting teeth as long as bananas, learning to hunt. . . . But wait a minute, where did these photographs come from?

Step into the ancient world of the dinosaur! In this remarkable book, a pair of respected dinosaur experts re-create scenes from the life of a typical Triceratops so realistically that you’d think these hulking giants were strutting around just yesterday. What’s more, each book features a sculpted rubber cover reproducing the dinosaur’s face. It’s about as close as you can come to being there!

About the Author
Don Lessem, aka "Dino Don," is a world-renowned dinosaur expert and writer. He has written on dinosaurs for numerous newspapers and magazines, including THE NEW YORK TIMES, SMITHSONIAN, and OMNI, and is the author or coauthor of many books on the subject. "Dino Don" has also been a writer and host of NOVA documentaries and the creator and host of the largest and most successful traveling dinosaur exhibit in North America, "The Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park: The Lost World." About TYRANNOSAURUS REX and TRICERATOPS, he says, "I’m more excited about these books than any of the dozens I’ve done before for kids and grownups. Why? Because the spectacular and unique depictions of dinosaurs by animator Hall Train make dinosaurs more realistic here than in any book I’ve ever seen. And the molded sculptural covers are beautiful invitations for younger kids to enter the world of real dinosaurs."

Hall Train is a highly respected "paleoartist" who has created full-size dinosaur models for museums and exhibitions around the world. For this book, he created lifelike models of Triceratops, then photographed them in locations in Canada, Georgia, and Florida. The digitized images were enhanced by computer.
