5.0 out of 5 stars Good To Drive To....
I must be honest when I say I bought this on a whim, having been disappointed with Version 2.0 when compared to it's predecessor. However, I was pleasantly suprised. (And yes, this is a good CD to drive to. Just be careful when listening to "Tornado". It seems to inspire speed.) "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" has some excellent effects,...

3.0 out of 5 stars There are better imports then this
Since this is Garbage, I cannot hate it, but, I don't love it. Lemme tell you what's included here: The Trick is To Keep Breathing (normal song), Can't Seem to Make You Mine (new song), Tornado (recorded on their tour bus), Special (remix). It's not bad really. I understand Garbage was just having fun and were probably bored out of their minds when they recorded the...

I must be honest when I say I bought this on a whim, having been disappointed with Version 2.0 when compared to it's predecessor. However, I was pleasantly suprised. (And yes, this is a good CD to drive to. Just be careful when listening to "Tornado". It seems to inspire speed.) "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" has some excellent effects, especially Shirley's voice distortion. "Tornado" also capitalizes on the bands ability to go comepletely electronic, and remain real. Finally, the remix of "Special" is what really makes this single worth picking up. I dare say it far out does the original. Excellent job.

I understand Garbage was just having fun and were probably bored out of their minds when they recorded the bazerk "Tornado", but, judging it as the lame song it is, it's pretty icky. It's mildly catchy and fun, but it's icky. "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" is very Rocky Horror sounding. I don't know, that's just what it reminds me of. It's pretty good. The remix of "Special" is peaceful, but, boring. Overall, this is an import to skip since you can get CSTMYM on other imports.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for collectors, June 20, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This single contains two new songs and a special re-mix (Rickidy Raw Mix). The songs are : Tornado, Can't seem to make you mine. But these two songs are already included in the Single "When I Grow Up" part 1. For this reason, only I recommend this C.D. to true fans or collectors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hold your breath, May 1, 2000

This was somewhat of a dissapointing Garbage release. As a collector, this CD offers nothing new. The UK release of "When I Grow Up" parts 1 & 2 (Mush43CDS & Mush43CDSX) already have the previously unreleased "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" & "Tornado". The UK CD's also include "When I Grow Up - Danny Teneglia's Club Mix" which is quite good and NOT found on this CD. Of course you would have to buy 2 CD's compared to just one to get the extra track but Garbage is a great band and worth it. This CD would have been better had they of put a remix of the title track on it. It is unlikely that they will release a UK version of this like they did with every other single on Version 2.0.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome and True Single!!!!!, May 2, 1999

This review is from: Trick Is To Keep Breathing (Audio CD)
This is one of the most honest songs I've heard in a while. "The Trick is to Keep Breathing" has such an awesome and ethereal feel and sound to it. All of Garbage's songs are honest and true-to-life, but this one has some unknown spectacular thing going on. I would recommend buying this single to anyone!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Vocal Performance, April 20, 1999

This review is from: Trick Is To Keep Breathing (Audio CD)
The Trick is to keep Breathing is the best song taken from the album version 2.0. The sound is so unique and magnificent. The song expresses such feeling that I may call it garbage's most emotional track. It talks about the love that exists between best friends. I absolutely recommend the single.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trick Is To Keep Breathing-Garbage, January 19, 2002

Another moody, but powerful ballad from Shirley and the boys; Trick is one of Version 2.0's "Milk"-like tracks, plus a little chocolate.

5.0 out of 5 stars as good as it gets, August 12, 2000
This review is from: Trick Is To Keep Breathing (Audio CD)
This is a great single! It has two b-sides that are awesome, Can't Seem To Make You Mine is a cover song by a 60's band, The Seeds. Shirley's voice is quite distorted, but that only makes is better! Tornado is another b-side on it. It's a funky, 80's-ish, swirly, jiggin, funny song. It has a friend of theirs screaming "c'mon, Shirl"! Hardly any lyrics on it, just like Alien Sex Fiend, Shirley only repeats one line. The Rickidy Raw R&B Mix of Special is beautiful! At first I thought it was better than the original, but it can't really come up to that.. But it's one of the best remixes I've ever heard of a song. The Trick Is To Keep Breathing is a wonderful song! The title was inspired by a book(by Janice Galloway), and the song was inspired by a friend of Shirley's. This CD is deffinately worth the money!

This Single was one of the best singles I ever heard. "The trick is to keep breathing" is such an awesome song. I play that CD over and over (When I am not listening to the album V2.0) Garbage deserves to be #1!

4.0 out of 5 stars This CD was great!, March 23, 1999
This review is from: Trick Is To Keep Breathing (Audio CD)
I thought this Garbage single was overall pretty cool. The song "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" is one of the best songs I've heard from them! Although the track "Tornado" was kind of a workout song, it's OK for when I am in a good mood. The slower "Special" remix is great when I am bummed out. This is probably one of the greatest CD singles I've heard (Garbage is my fave band, and beleive me, I've heard a lot). This CD rocks!!!
