Book Description

March 15, 2000
Chloe Samms has always believed in psychic powers, but never dreamed she might have abilities of her own-until a tragic car accident changes her life. During her near-death experience, she is met not by comforting, departed loved ones, but by an unfamiliar woman who begs Chloe to find her kidnapped son.

Chloe awakens determined to find the little boy from her vision. When she meets his father Dylan, a darkly handsome, enigmatic man still reeling from his son's disappearance, the picture grows more complicated. Dylan refuses to believe Chloe's crazy story, while she remains convinced that she is the only one who can find the boy before it's too late. With their hearts on the line, and the little boy's life at stake, can Chloe convince a hard-hearted man to believe in miracles?

From Publishers Weekly

With a wife, a son and a thriving business, architect Dylan McKain leads an uneventful life in Naples, Fla. Then his wife, Wanda, begins hearing voices in her head, telling her to hide their autistic son, Teddy; after she secrets him away, Wanda is killed in a car accident. Frantic, Dylan searches desperately for his son. Meanwhile, the survivor of the car accident, attractive psychic Chloe Samms, feels compelled to find the missing boy. She tracks down Dylan and contacts the police, offering to help in the search. Dylan is cautious, and when the police declare her a fraud, he rejects her assistance. When their investigation proves unsuccessful, the police give up hope, but Chloe finally convinces Dylan to accept her help--and though the pair does rescue a missing boy, it's not Teddy. Now Dylan is torn between accepting a harsh reality or believing in Chloe's visions. Wainscott (In a Heartbeat) delivers an unusual and satisfying romance with a supernatural twist. (Mar.)

More About the Author

WHERE AM I? I'm now writing under the name Jaime Rush for Avon Books. Check out my new series, where X-Files meets Lost! Why did I change? I changed publishers and went back to my paranormal romance roots, and it was a business decision to start fresh. If you like my earlier paranormal books, you'll like the Offspring series. Lots of suspense, action, the kind of damaged characters I love to write about, and sexiness. You can read sneak peeks at www.jaimerush.com.

If you'd like to buy one of my books, and have it signed, please email me through the Jaime site. My manager has a limited amount of Tina Wainscott books on hand. For ebook users, I am releasing my Tina titles on the Kindle under both Tina Wainscott and Jaime Rush. Out so far:
Unforgivable
What She Doesn't Know
Blindsight (formerly Now You See Me)
Until I Die Again (formerly On the Way to Heaven)

Tina's Bio: I read suspense thrillers because I like to be scared, and I write suspense thrillers because I like to scare people. Not-entrails-on-the-floor or hacked-up-body-parts-wrapped-prettily-in-a-package type books. More like not being able to trust anyone, not even people you think you can trust type books. Books about psychological manipulation and psychotic baddies who enjoy the torment even more than the actual kill. Being scared is fun. Just ask any roller coaster or horror flick fanatic. Heck, just watching the evening news can be terrifying.

Pick up one of my books, though, and I'll guarantee you one thing: in my world, the bad guy always gets his in the end. Or the head. Or wherever it turns out to be. We don't always get the luxury of justice in real life, but every time I write a book, I get justice for all those people who couldn't. And I get to meet interesting people who I then put through hell, all in the name of entertainment. That is what I call a sweet way to make a living.

My beliefs are God, a positive attitude, living life to the fullest, doing unselfish things on a regular basis, small indulgences, believing in yourself, appreciating what you have, and no regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great paranormal romance, March 1, 2000
This review is from: A Trick Of The Light (Mass Market Paperback)
Wanda McKain leaves her child Teddy with her bewildered mother at the nursing home. Her spouse Dylan soon sees her, but Wanda hits the accelerator of her car to escape from him. Dylan stays in pursuit only to watch his wife lose control, hit pedestrian Chloe Samm, and crash. Wanda dies and Chloe has a near death experience in which Wanda pleads with her to keep Teddy safe.

When Chloe awakens she mumbles Teddy's name loud enough for Dylan to demand an explanation. She tells him what happened when she thought she saw shades of heaven. Dylan thinks she is either involved with the abduction of his son or is a lunatic. Chloe feels her quest is to protect Teddy even though she has no earthly idea from whom or where the child is. As Dylan begins to know Chloe, he falls deeply in love with her, a feeling she reciprocates. However, it will not need a psychic to predict that his past has taught him that relationships are harmful and temporary unless Chloe can prove that assumption false.

Fans of paranormal romances will feel they are ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN reading Tina Wainscott's latest winner, A TRICK OF THE LIGHT. The story line is filled with action and intrigue, but the charcaters make the plot. Chloe is a kindhearted person willing to reach out to anyone. Dylan is a wounded duck who will remind readers of Harry Chapin's classic Cat's in the Cradle until Chloe gives him a second chance at redemption. Ms. Wainscott makes the unbelievable feel real and right in such an exciting manner that her audience will want her next novel to be published tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreams of You, April 5, 2000

I loved this book. Felt the frustration of both people. Couldn't figure out who was trying to kill her, and was really surprised at the end. Had a great understanding of the homeless, there where times where I held my breath, and was so afraid for the people. This is one of my favorite books. Kept wanting to read the last page to see how it turned out, but didn't want to spoil it. Total surprise at the end. Great book

Could not put it down. I love the couple and rooted for them through out the book. I understood why she had to go back and finish her past before she started her new life. I held my breath in as I was so afraid for her near the end, then I cried at the very end because it was so beautiful,it was just the way I would have wanted it to end. Don't want to give the plot away and spoil it for someone else. But I would read this book again, and it does sit on my keeper shelf for a future read. I recommend it to every one I meet.
