5.0 out of 5 stars Two words for Leslie Meier: Keep writing!
Trick or Treat Murder is my favorite Lucy Stone mystery because of the coziness of Ticker's Cove and the real-life characters. I enjoyed this novel so much I purchased all the other Lucy Stone mysteries to say that I have a collection of good books. 1.0 out of 5 stars BOO! Sleuth Has Bad Attitude About Bullying
I liked this series until I read this book. Lucy's son, in the book, is one of a group of kids that bullies another child, and I really disliked the way the author had Lucy handle it, and her attitude about it...basically that it was the victim's own fault because of the way he dressed and his nerdy personality! I was outraged!! My own boys have been victims of bullies...

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming, light reading., October 19, 2000
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
This was my first Lucy Stone mystery and I found it very enjoyable. I really liked the realistic, comfortable way in which Meier introduced Lucy's home life and contrasted it with the wild antics of her mystery-solving. The supporting characters are varied and very vividly drawn. The novel also uses touches of humor to keep things from getting too dark or scary. I plan to read more of Meier's books. I hope she continues this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY THE BEST HALLOWEEN MYSTERY, October 1, 2006
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
This book is an entertaining mystery. A crazy arsonist is detroying historical buildings. An innocent person dies in one of the houses. We have to find out who is doing it and why they are doing it.

I loved the Halloween setting that this book had. I enjoyed the pumpkin patch, the pumpkin carving, the orange cupcakes, the kids' costumes, the Halloween party, and the kids having Halloween fun.

I LOVED the family. The family was so cozy and warm. I loved the parents: Bill and Lucy; and also the children: Toby, Elizabeth, Sara, and Zoe. I loved the fact that Lucy had a newborn baby that she was nursing. I also loved her relationship with her other children and with her husband. She was a stay-at-home mom and wife and I absolutely loved her.

If you like mysteries, a Halloween setting, and a cozy old-fashioned family, then this book is for you.

This is the first book of this series that I have read. I will definitely come back for more. I want to visit this family again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooky Times in Tinkers Cove, February 17, 2008
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
This novel was a real mystery. At first I thought I knew who did it. But then I had other suspects. All the while I was afraid for Lucy's home and family. I kept thinking her house would be next in line for arson. The ending was a real surprise.

Miss Tilley is an interesting character. Luckily things turned out well for her in spite of what happened to her.

I can't wait to read the next one in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Arsonist Is on the Loose in Tinker's Cove, February 19, 2005
By
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
The cozy town of Tinker's Cove, Maine has been plagued with a series of mysterious fires that have destroyed a number of historic buildings. Just a few weeks before Halloween, the residents of Tinker's Cove are shocked when another fire claims the life of Monica Mayes, wife of a Boston gynecologist, who was staying in her summer home after finding her husband with another woman.

Meanwhile, Lucy Stone's husband Bill finds himself "volunteered" to serve on the board of the Tinker Cove Historic Preservation District Board. The town's domineering retired librarian, Miss Tilley, is the President of the Board. Initially Lucy's suspects that Roland Mayes, the estranged husband of the murder victim is the arsonist. However, Lucy becomes concerned for her own home when she concludes that all the buildings that were burned are connected in some way to members of the Preservation committee.

Small town politics, preparation for a town Halloween party, and taking care of her four children keep Lucy very busy. As in her previous books, Lucy finds herself right in the middle of finding the arsonist. The resolution of this story was well plotted. I enjoyed this Lucky Stone story very much and look forward to continuing this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, May 1, 2008
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
I really enjoy reading this series of books and I have yet to read one of Leslie Meier's books that I didn't like. I read this book years ago and recently reread it again. My only complaint about this book is the CONSTANT references to her breastfeeding her baby. And by constant, I mean every few pages is something about her breastfeeding Zoe. I am a mother of a toddler and I can't stomach women who are militant about breastfeeding, so maybe that's why this bugged me so much.

Other than that, I really liked this book and all of the other books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucy Stone is a real working mom...., August 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
I first met Lucy Stone in Mail Order Murder. She was appealing as a working mother who struggled to care for her family. From the guilt over working and worrying about dinners, child care, etc. to worrying about work for her husband, I feel I'm keeping up with a real family. Plus, I love her cozy descriptions of Maine. I can almost feel the chill in the air and smell the smoke. All her characters are like real people, so reading these books is quick and fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive portrayal of an at-home mother, March 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Trick or Treat Murder (Lucy Stone Mysteries, No. 3) (Paperback)
Lucy Stone is a busy full-time mother to four children, including a newborn, yet she still has time to do a little detecting on the side. The family life portrayed is very realistic and positive, with the characters pleasant and likable. Lucy is depicted as a smart, busy, fulfilled woman who is happy to put her family first.
