5.0 out of 5 stars Thank goodness I bought this book!!, January 3, 2008
By Saniphelia (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
To say I would have been lost if I didn't buy this book is an understatement. I have been using Windows since version 3.1 and when 95 came out I got stuck in the look of that interface. I am a home/small business pc user and have Vista Ultimate on my new laptop. I bought this book in anticipation of getting a new system with Vista on it. I knew nothing of Vista prior to purchasing my laptop and didn't want to be lost trying to figure out a new OS. This book has clear and concise instructions on many different topics - from beginner to advanced Vista functions. I am thrilled that I owned it prior to my laptop's arrival. I wanted to engage the bitlocker technology and had no knowledge of how to do so or how it would help protect my files. I was able to easily configure my hard drive for the bitlocker setup and get my laptop up and running in a flash - not to mention I learned a little about how Vista helps to protect my files with it's other integrated features. I am also grateful for the keyboard tips and tricks. I have always liked using keyboard shortcuts and now I know how to personalized my shortcuts to my needs. I haven't read this book from cover to cover - but I didn't need to. It is set up so you can look up the topic you are interested in and read only about that.

My husband has Vista Premium on his laptop and has been able to use this book to tweak his system.

This book covers many topics for all users and is worth owning. I feel I have two books in one. It supplies a wealth of information for beginners and techies alike!
