In February 2009, the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated a conversion from analog NTSC TV broadcasting to digital ATSC broadcasting. On February 17, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. Digital broadcasting will allow stations to offer improved picture and sound quality and additional channels. Those televisions that receive TV reception by antenna and do not have a built-in ATSC TV tuner will not be able to receive over-the-air TV broadcasts. The Kingbox K8V1 Digital to Analog Digital Converter Box connects to your TV and antenna to convert those digital signals to analog frequencies that your NTSC TV can decipher and display. Without it, you will not receive off-the-air broadcasts. Kingbox K8V1 Digital to Analog Digital Converter Box is an NTIA approved adapter that enables older NTSC televisions to receive DTV signals converted to analog. The Commission's digital tuner rule specifies that as of March 1, 2007, all new TVs must include digital tuners.
