Peter Jannetta is an icon in the medical profession devoted to the care of patients with trigeminal neuralgia. He developed, perfected and promoted the procedure of microvascular compression, fostered the exploration and development of glycerol rhizotomy by one of his faculty members, astutely supported the institution of the first gamma knife stereotacic radiosurgery program in the US by one of his faculty members, and started the major support group for tirgeminal neuralgia patients and their families - TNA-The Facial Pain Association.
