I've spent the last 4 days working the the V1 in a couple of different settings, and I am very pleased with the results.

This device will make you look at photography from a different angle. I've had more fun this weekend trying to capture popping balloons than I have with a camera in a while. It's seriously a good time.

Another reviewer complained that there wasn't a manual. There's a manual on their website that explains the features in detail.

My only concern is that firmware updates might be a bit complex for users that aren't comfortable with Arduinos. This device straddles a delicate line between being complex (and hackable) enough for the power users and almost simple enough to use without reading the manual. Almost.

Bottom line: I would go to TT's website and download and read the manual before you decide to buy one. Then you'll know what you're getting in to. It is a fantastic product.

I ordered this while it was still in the pre-production stage. I was looking for something that would allow me to photograph lightning. This a lot less expensive than other units on the market, and it does a lot more. It will trigger your camera shutter by ambient light, sound, laser, and infra-red. Also has a port if you want plug in something of your own design.

Very happy with the purchase. It works flawlessly.

Some people need to spend a few milliseconds (pun intended) looking across the triggertrap website and reading the easily understandable and downloadable Pdf instruction manuals. I'm no Arduino geek myself, which is why I bought the TTv1. It works straight outta the box and does what it says on the tin. I needed a dependable triggering system via laser and sound for high speed photography involving fluids and various other objects. Without wishing to delve into the murky world of soldering irons and diodes, this item fitted the bill. Otherwise I would of bought the TT shield. A great product, and a lot more practical than some of the other solutions out there.
I've also noticed the creators are very active within a help forum that can be found via the website.

Ive had a lot of fun expanding my photographic horizons with the product. I would recommend it 100% but I've had difficulty updating the firmware on my iMac.
The customer service on all triggertrap products has been ASTOUNDINGLY GREAT!!

I purchased this product from TriggerTrap (through Amazon). The product is sold by a British start-up company, but shipped (very quickly) from the Chinese manufacturing site. The package arrived in good condition. It differs from the other trigger products on the market (such as Camera Axe) in several ways. The most important difference from a user's perspective is that the Triggertrap has several built-in sensors, and that it is somewhat less expensive than the competition. For those inclined to program Arduino software, this device is "open source", and will allow you to modify the program code in any way you wish (although I doubt that the average user will do this). As far as I can tell from my (limited) experience with the device, it works well, and will allow users to produce interesting photographs that were not possible otherwise. I find that the software running on the TriggerTrap is intuitive and easy to use (but see below for other considerations).

A minor complaint is that the TriggerTrap has only one triggered output, so that one can trigger either one camera or one flash, but not any other combinations of cameras and flashes. A bigger issue for me as a new customer was that it came with software installed that was clearly buggy (v. 0.3.32) - with an obvious problem affecting the visibility of the screen. This was eventually remedied by updating the software using a somewhat convoluted process that is described on the TriggerTrap web site. The updated software is actually several generations away from that on the device, suggesting that the device was manufactured and programmed a long time ago. Updating these devices prior to shipment would have been a nice touch...

A second problem was that the battery holder inside of the TriggerTrap was loose.

Works really well, it's response time is really fast. which is perfect for photographing high speed images. I also really like triggertrap as a company.

The only critasisume i could find is, the construction could be a bit more solid. The battery pack is only fixed on one side so it bangs around. Also the bottom of the box. (Where the switches are) does not have a cover. i am a bit concerned that after a while dust and dirt will get inside.
