Makes Trigonometry easy,
By
This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
Before attending my Trigonometry class (I go to a community college), I was handed down the precept that said most of the time the books the college/university has you order are pure rubbish to learn from. Well, I don't go to a fancy school or anything, but I think they hit it right on the nail asking us to get this one. You won't need any supplementary material really, everything you need to know about Trig is very likely found in this book.
I'd recommend this also to self-taught math students. I find everything inside it very easy to read, understand, and am able retain most, if not all, of what I've read from it. It's the connection between the author and the reader I find the most important when reading textbooks ever since I was in grade school. You can identify when a textbook sucks just by reading and doing the first chapter pretty much. I do believe though I could tell you that these authors have done a good job serving you what you need to know in order to prepare for other classes such as pre-calculus, calculus, physics, or any other math-oriented courses you might need to take. It's got the look, it's got the goods, and I'm hooked.

Easy To Follow,

This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
Nothing left to the imagination. Trigonometry, by C. P. McKeague and M. D. Turner is very well organized and written. The examples in the book have figures that involve everyday apparatus or structures such as bicycles, swings, buildings and ski trams. This approach allows one to easily recognize the initial facts or information, and then visualize the subsequent trigonometric relationships described in the problem. Consequently, the statements or transparency of the questions become evident and the student can then explore the possible solutions to the problem.
The later sections of the book give excellent examples and explanations of trigonometric functions that will definitely be encountered if a student goes into physics or engineering. A motivated person could self-teach trigonometry using this book.

i got 115% in my class and only read up to ch 5 i showed up mostly for exams and quizes,
This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
i think this book overall is good. it has some confusing examples. but look i think i studied my teacher more than this book. i only showed up for quizes and exams and did not have this class in highschool. the absolute best part of the entire book is the inside covers, all 4 pages. copy and shrink them down, make you a chart of the 6 functions for each of the most common radian and degrees used on the unit circle and that is all you will need for notes period. the entire book is reduced to fit on 2 pieces of paper. you will also need those notes if you are going on to take precalculus. its alot of trig and alg 2. i only read up to chapter 5 and did the preview exams my teacher gave us and i got the highest grade in my class 115% i also bought the solution manual because it will break down the problems farther than the book does.

This is the best math book ever. The explanations are so clearly laid out that it is almost impossible to not understand it. I wish every math or science book was written the way this one is. The writers have not over complicated the instructions and the examples in the book actually help you with the problems that are at the end of each section. The web site is also very helpful, but I only had to use it for one chapter... because the book was so awesome. This book definitely helped me get an A in the class and helped prepare me for Calculus.

Good material,

The material presented in this book is straight forward and includes much history of the concepts within Trigonometry. It gives a good holistic understanding of trigonometry, connecting some material to future applications in calculus, though probably not near as much as a trig/calc book of course. The homework problems develop at a good pace. This is not a phenomenal book, but it is definitely a solid text book that will teach you trigonometry well.

Not awful, but frustrating...,

This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
This is the textbook for my college trigonometry class. I find it to be rather frustrating, as often, there are section review questions that are NOT covered by the examples, and often require different skills or formulas than you have learned in that section. I have had to google explanations several times when the book's explanation of a concept was inadequate.

Simple Book,
This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
This Book was too simple. Nothing in this book is rationalized. The notation is designed for people who have trouble with algebra2. I consider this book too simple. I gave it 4 stars because trig should not be taught in this notation.
