This is a good solid book, with fairly reasonable explanations. I wasn't all that impressed until I was inflicted with the Pre-Calculus textbook and then I have fallen back to this book so present explanations that make sense. This book is a keeper.

Not Recommended,
This review is from: Trigonometry (Hardcover)
An outrageously priced text book that spends too much time trying to entertain the reader. Rather than actually giving clear discussions and examples of trigonometry, the books presents spotty, opaque, and halting coverage of key topics. This is yet another substandard example from Wiley press that only serves to make the publisher and universities, that bludgeon their captive students with $120 text books, slovenly rich.

This book was required for the college level trigonometry class I completed last semester. The book does a great job introducing a student to the basics of trig. I purchased the corresponding solutions manual which helped explain the homework even though the answers to the odd numbered homework problems are listed in the back of the trig book. Trigonometry by Cynthia A. Young also includes supplementary pages pertaining to the Algebra you are expected to have already learned prior to enrolling in the class. The inside covers contain illustrations and definitions of the math formulas and trig identities you are required to learn and memorize for each chapter. There are review problems at the end of each chapter and practice tests. One thing I found exceptionally helpful in this book was the instructions in the margin on how to use the calculator to work the trig problems. It is designed for TI calculators. The book is hardcover and held up exceptionally well. (My chemistry book by a different publisher lost pages after the first couple of weeks.) I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn basic trig functions.

It's a math book. Not my favorite subject. But they got it to me on time. The book was the same condition as they described (i bought a used book), which was just fine with me. And well, I passed my math class at a cheaper price than the campus bookstore. ;-)
