4.0 out of 5 stars The best Trigun volume yet, November 27, 2011
This review is from: Trigun Maximum Volume 6: The Gunslinger (v. 6) (Paperback)
Fans of Trigun who choose to read the manga have it hard. Volumes 3-5 have been a horrible mess, filled with poorly drawn fights and devoid of any plot whatsoever. Thankfully Trigun Maximum 6 is great. Featuring surprisingly little fight scenes, this volume expands on Vash and Knives' history. In the beginning of the volume Knives discovers a horrible secret about plants. This chapter is followed by what seems to be a filler gun fight between Vash and the episodic run-of-the-mill villains. But with his memories from the July disaster back Vash is almost a shell of the man he used to be and struggles in the fight. The end chapter goes back to Rem and how Vash and Knives lived before reaching the planet. All of these chapters are interesting and full of plot. Frankly this volume is a 180 degrees turn for Trigun Maximum. It's much better than prior volumes in all terms. Heck, even the drawings look better. The ending notes (omake) from the mangaka are still useless and annoying as ever though. All in all, if you are still loyally buying this below average manga this volume is a great addition to your Trigun collection.
