A wonderful book ...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
"Trilobites" is a nearly-magical tribute to a group of fascinating creatures from far into the past. The photographs are truly spectacular (though sadly incomplete) representations of these archetypal ancestors. For me (computer scientist), this was a wonderful in-depth introduction to a narrow slice of the obviously fascinating science of paleontology. Highly recommended ... though you need to take the time to read it carefully. LEARN the anatomy; LEARN the geological time scale; sit and stare and dream at the photographs. Get to know some trilobites!

Good Book,

I thought this was a very helpful book for identification of Trilobites. Has many pictures of strange, unusual, and rare Trilobites. This book also does a good job of explaining the different parts of these creatures. Gives nice close-up photos. I would recommend this book to any Trilobite fan.

A Super Collection of Great Specimens,
By Scott Pierson (PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
Having seen many of the specimens featured in this book first hand, I would say that great care was taken in accurately capturing these specimens for print.
The details of the book are a great reference source - I am particularly lucky to have an autographed (by one of the principal specimen sources) hard-bound copy of the second edition from 1993 - this book was just recently returned to me after 8 years. It is a great book to just sit and look at or glean for it's vital information.

Deserves the full 5 stars +++++,
By Daniel Phelps (edrioasteroid@hotmail.com Lexington, KY United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
As the title indicates, this is mainly a photographic atlas. However, it is an excellent introduction to trilobites for anyone interested in paleontology, no matter what their educational level.

Trilobites are my favorite fossil but I never knew much about the animal. I chanced across this book and loved it! It is a great introduction to trilobites, but it's not light reading. I'd recommend this to anyone who is interested in or might be interested in trilobites.

Another reason to love trilobites!,
By
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
First off, I will admit that I have a strange affinity for trilobites. This book really does these awesome little creatures justice. My knowledge of trilobites was mediocre and this book definitely expanded my knowledge. The photos in this book are amazing and very detailed. Although, I will admit some of the scientific facts are a little obsolete. However, this book just gives me another reason to obsess over these extraordinary 'time capsules'.

Fascinating,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
If you love trilobite fossils this book is essential and wonderful. The photographs of fossil specimens are presented in chronological order and are simply breathtaking. Time and again I've returned to this classic for review or just to look at the dazzling variety of trilobites that have been carefully photographed. And what I really like about the book is that it makes it easy to share with family and friends just what is fascinating about this ancient creature.

A book worth owning,
By rb "rb49" (New York, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trilobites (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book so much, I bought an extra copy.Although all of the book may no longer be cutting-edge scholarship, it is still a useful and excellent introduction. The one thing none of the other reviewers specifically mentioned, and I think is one of the book's most persuasive buying points, is that it is a BEAUTIFUL book. |
