Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The much anticipated NEW ALBUM containing 26 unreleased, all original songs by one of the world's premier DJs - ATB!

On this, his seventh album, ATB has succeeded in combining two worlds, without intermingling them unnecessarily. Trilogy's first disc ("Dance") provides the electronic and melodious ATB sound blended with a unique rock and pop crossover flavour. The second disc ("Chill"), on the other hand, offers the listener 14 super smooth tracks.

"Every album should have its own soul and a golden thread leading through all the songs. However, you only really feel the soul if you listen to all the songs together. If you mix up the faster and slower songs, that isn't going to work," explains Andre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait!, April 26, 2007
By Scott Baret (Pittsburgh, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trilogy (Audio CD)
I downloaded this from iTunes four minutes after midnight so I could have the latest album from my favorite electronic artist and it did not leave me disappointed!

There are two discs that come with this one. The first is done in the mold of traditional ATB in terms of song structure and style. While it has ATB's distinct sound, it again goes into new directions in terms of how it is presented. Vocalists include Heather Nova, Jan Löchel, Jeppe Riddervold, and Karen Ires, with Heather and Jan being featured the most. Jan is also responsible for many of the guitars on this album, and I feel that ATB is at his best when he is working with him.

To some extent I feel the lyrics on this one are more complicated than on previous ATB albums in terms of how they are presented. This shows yet another progression of ATB, who always is seeking to try something new with every album he releases.

The second disc is a collection of soft instrumental pieces. They are heavy on ambience and also on piano. Notable is "Trilogy-The Final Chapter". Those who have heard the first two parts of the song (the first on Addicted to Music and the second on Seven Years) will appreciate this one the most. It's almost like a three piece work from the classical era and in some respects even sounds like one ala Für Elise with the simple yet powerful piano melody despite having the modern electronic backgrounds to go with it.

I feel "Trilogy-The Final Chapter" is the most powerful piece ATB has ever released, eclipsing even the first two installments of the series and "Sunset Girl", a powerful instrumental from Addicted to Music. The rest of the tracks are very relaxing and are not the typical upbeat ATB that most would expect from a typical album. Think along the lines of "Circular Symmetry" from No Silence but with much more ambience and with a focus on piano.

This is an album that I probably will be playing non-stop for some time. The date was delayed not long ago but it was well worth the wait.

American customers should note that the US release isn't coming out until May, check on Amazon for a separate listing. It's already on iTunes to coincide with this release, which is the German release.

4.0 out of 5 stars ATB - Trilogy, May 23, 2007
By Constant (Vancouver, BC Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
ATB's (André Tanneberger) sixth album is "Trilogy" (2007). As a reviewer I mostly write Hip Hop reviews, as a music listener I like to listen to music of all different genres. Like a lot of people I first came across Germany's ATB when he dropped his debut album "Movin' Melodies" (1999) which included the hit single "9 PM" (Till I Come). My favourite Trance artist is Tiesto though I have only really skimmed the surface of this particular music genre. My favourite track on this release is "The Chosen Ones" a track with a excellent vibe to it, singer Jan Lochel shines on this feel good melody - great lyrics, memorable vocals, while ATB's is production subtly outstanding. I have been getting a lot of play out of track's like the exceptional "Alcarda" and somber "Trilogy" (The Final Chapter). Female singers Jennifer Karr & Karen Ises deliver on point vocals on the album's opening track's "Justify" and the single "Desperate Religion". Heather Nova, who provides a number of contributions steals the show for me though on the deep "Stars Come Out" singing with passion on a track which may produce some tears from your girlfriend. Both disc's are full of laid back track's, and while this may upset those who are looking for more fast paced hard hitting production, I find that this release is solid throughout. This is not an album for those looking for dance track's. The second disc in particular has more chill music, instrumental's which have grown on this reviewer more with additional listens. "Trilogy" is a release I would recommend for the collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait, April 27, 2007

This review is from: Trilogy (Audio CD)
This is another great album from ATB; the two disc set reminds me very much of Two Worlds, but better. Disc 1 - Vocal Trance (Loved it) Disc 2- Trance/Chill (Not as good as Disc 1, but still great) The album is a definite pick up.
