This review is from: Lord of the Rings Trilogy Fellowship of the Ring Action Figure King Elendil (Sword Slashing) (Toy)
In the Second Age of Middle-Earth, Sauron arose in great wrath and tyranny in an effort to dominate or kill all free people of Middle-Earth. Sauron bore a great hatred for the fair Elven folk, and of Elendil the Tall and his people, whom Elendil saved from the destruction Sauron wrought on the great land of Numenor. Elendil, high king of men, united with Gil-Galad, the high king of the elves, and all their people came together arrayed in a fair yet terrible army, forming a Last Alliance against the forces of Mordor. Against Narsil, the sword of Elendil, and Aeglos, the spear of Gil-Galad, no enemy could withstand. On the plains of Gorgoroth, when victory was near at hand, Sauron strode forth to challenge the great kings. In the end, both were slain. Yet Sauron was also overthrown, and Elendil's son Isildur cut from his hand the One Ring of power. Elendil's sword was broken in battle, but was returned in honor to Rivendell, where it remain a token of kings until the true king returned to once again take up the throne of Gondor.Elendil the Tall makes a splendid figure for your battle collection, even if you did only see him in the movie for a minute. He founded the city of Gondor, and was the ancestor of the men in Middle-Earth. He comes decked head-to-foot in kingly armor, gauntlets, curiass, helm, tassets, massive pauldrons and greaves. Naturally, he bears the great sword Narsil, which can be held in one or two hands. He has a sword action button, but the toy-makers are learning! It's good and small. The sword itself is a little disfigured, just slightly. I'm wagering it won't just be mine either, judging from the other identical figures I examined on the shelf. It's also VERY difficult to get into his hand(s). Having read other reviews, I'm often fearful that I will snap off a thumb or hand or entire arm, so be careful. His helmet is detachable, and his sword can be placed in the extraordinarily long sheath. He's got a small cloak flowing out behind him, and his face has the battle-yell fixed upon it. (Appropriately so, he will not be greeting orcs with a smile) My only problem with the figure of the revered king is that he cannot stand on his own very well at all. You have to experiment to get it to work, but if you're having trouble, try using his sheath as a bit of a prop by sticking it out behind him. Matching perfectly with Gil-Galad, High Elven Warrior, and Elrond in Armor figure, he goes great for a Prologue setup. Since there are Elven generic warrior figures, however, I hope ToyBiz will release some generic Numenorian warriors very soon for part of Elendil's army. Awesome buy of an awesome character in Middle-Earth lore. Buy it. Or face the wrath of Narsil.

Now that all three Lord of the Rings movies are done, Toybiz is having a lot of work done releasing all the other charachters from all three movies. One of these figures is that of King Elendil, the Numenorian king from the prologe of the first movie. This figure depicts him in his battle armor, along with a removable helmet and of course his sword Narsil. To be honest, there really is nothing wrong with Elendil. The detailing on him is fantastic (his chest plate is amazing to look at), and he is quite posable. His legs can go from a simple standing up position to a crouched and ready to spring position. His helmet comes off, his sword fits in the sheath (Yippie!) and his sword slashing action works fine. If I have one worry with Elendil, it's that his right hand seems a little loose. But that might just be with my figure. Overall, Elendil is a solid buy and a worthy addition to your collection.

My Elendil Action Figure is terrible. First, his helmet is too big, and won't stay on his head. Narsil is bent, and no matter how you try, it stays bent.In my figure, his sword holder came unglued, and I can't glue it back on. The same happened with his cape. He is a very good likeness, perfect for rallying Gondor's soliders. Overall, he's flimsy, but a good figure till he gets unglued

With the third wave of the FOTR trilogy line, toybiz has given us another lot of nice figures. Elendil is no exception.Elendil was Isildur's father; the king of gondor who led the men in the final battle against Sauron in the prologue to Fellowship of the Ring. The best thing about the figure is his highly detailed armor. Vambraces, pauldrons, chestplate, greaves, everything has great texturing and detail. He comes with a nice helmet that fits snugly on his head. He also comes with a very large version of Narsil, which fits nicely into a very large sheath. There are a few things I don't like about the figure, though. His headsculpt is really not that good. His head is box-shaped, with the top being almost totally flat. (just keep the helmet on.) He also looks way too young for Elendil, who was shown to be pretty old in the movies. Also, Elendil's arms are sort of skinny and weak-looking. And his wrist-joints are loose, and I'm always afraid of them snapping off. (Especially since it is friggin' hard to get his sword in his hands!) Also, Narsil is too big, and it is also permanantly bent. However, the only thing that really detracts from the figure is the headsculpt. Elendil is a nice figure, and is definitely worth owning.

I have all the LOTR Toybiz figures, and I think this last batch ranks best amongst them, with the Elendil and the Gil-Galad figures being the best of the entire lot. Isildur's face is very realistic, the costume is top notch, just a beautifully rendered action figure any way you look at it. I like the Trilogy packaging, too, because you can see him from three angles, instead of just face on like in the older packaging. Who knew collecting action figures could be so much fun?

This is a fantastic action figure of Elendil. His armor is done really well. He is much more durable than some of the newer action figures, so that is nice. I give this figure an A+
