I've tried many of the fitness tracking apps out there - jog tracker, cardio trainer, runtastic, endomondo, runkeeper, etc. This one is one of the better ones. Everything it says it will do, it does well. My favorite is still runkeeper since I do intervals and it has audio cues based on time or distance.

I do lots of casual hiking as I live in a state park. Other apps are really set up for the serious weekend warrior.

I have only gone through the UI, but its enough to see that this app is a keeper. Simple UI, yet full features are there in settings if you want them.

The topo maps are impressive as a non Topo app, with choice of caching or downloading the data.

I could not get the GPS to lock on, but this has been true since my last Andoid OTA update (yay, thanks for that).

I was very impressed that the app worked seeking my GPS position about ten minutes but did not lock my phone or bleed my battery dry, as Google's own Navigator app does.

Checking services, cache, history, reveals shutdown is clean. Big Brownie points for that. Hate having to stop on the trail and go into my app management tool to ensure my battery lasts - every time I use an app.

No auto play on startup. Woot! A humble free app of the day!

No App2SD. This is one I'd keep on the phone, though, as SD access is a power sucker. No big deal for urban sports, but kayaking and hiking it's nice to have the app work your WHOLE stage. ;)

I don't post many reviews but I was so impressed with this app I had to share my thoughts. As others have pointed out this is not a, 'where on the earth's surface am I and how do I navigate from point A to point B" GPS app. This is more like a, "track my route and give me all the statistics I could ever want" app! You basically open the app, push the 'New Ride' button, push 'Start,' put the phone to sleep, and take off. Settings allow you to choose to have the app pause when you rest, start automatically, cache maps to the SD card, and more. When your done with your ride, walk, etc., the app will show the route you took, and the time it took. You can also choose from a list of other stats like average speed, elevation change, etc. If you want to save the trip it will date stamp it and allow you to save by a unique file name, and you can add a description. It adds up all your trips and gives you stats by the week or month. With the knowledge of the app I now have I would have paid for it . . . but I got it free!

Ignore the paranoid idiots below. If you need a GPS workout app, this one is perfect. It has more features than most, accurately shows GPS information, and is absolutely worth $3.99. I'm sure the option to move to SD is coming. I think that's the only thing that SHOULD raise a flag for some people who have phones with more limited memory. The permissions are necessary. Your phone is able to multitask. If one app does not allow other functions to occur those same people would then complain it's "broken." Plus, the 1-star reviewers indicate they didn't even download the app.

A number of people are rating this app down because they don't like exercise assessment apps or because they don't understand the difference between this app and a GPS. That's not fair to the developer not is it helpful for people who might want to buy this app.

And it's a shame because I found this app to be stable, attractive, and generally accurate. I'd rate this app higher than similar apps by other developers.
