Twenty Five Short Stories, April 5, 2009
This review is from: The Trimmed Lamp and Other Stories of the Four Million
This appears to be part of a series of books printed by Doubleday, Page & Co. containing most of O'Henry's short stories. Originally the books were printed between 1904 and 1919 by P.F Collier & Son. This particular collection was reprinted in 1922. I cannot be sure, but I believe the entire series was 12 books total. Each book in this 1922 series is titled by the first short story in the book, but there are always around 20 to 30 different stories in each book.
This volume, The Trimmed Lamp contains twenty five short stories in 260 pages: The Trimmed Lamp; A Madison Square Arabian Night; The Rubaiyat of a Scotch Highball; The Pendulum; Two Thanksgiving Day Gentlemen; The Assessor of Success; The Buyer From Cactus City; The Badge of Policeman O'Roon; Brickdust Row; The Making of a New Yorker; Vanity and Some Sables; The Social Triangle; The Purple Dress; The Foreign Policy of Company 99; The Lost Blend; A Harlem Tragedy; "The Guilty Party" -- An East Side Tragedy; According to Their Lights; A Midsummer Knight's Dream; The Last Leaf; The Count and the Wedding Guest; The Country of Elusion; The Ferry of Unfulfilment; The Tale of the Tainted Tenner; and Elsie in New York.
