5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide to the Trinity Alps
Luther Linkhart's book is the classic guide to the Trinity Alps, offering a detailed guide along numerous routes of varying lengths in the Alps. I've hiked throughout the Trinity Alps for over 20 years and have found this book helpful every step of the way as I tried new areas. Even if you modify the suggested routes you will find the information useful and interesting...

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good general description of the alps
A pretty good general description of the alps. Could have had a bit more background info and detail about the alps natural history and human history, but its satisfactory as is, considering the dearth of guides to the alps. The route descriptions are a good, diverse guide to some of the various hikes you can take. I was dissappointed with the map, I thought they should...

If you hike the Alps consult this book first; then contact the Forest Service Ranger Station in Weaverville, California, to verify conditions on your intended route.

I was dissappointed with the map, I thought they should have supplied the forest service's topo map of the alps. All in all, worth the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Linkhart's Trinity Alps guide, July 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This hiking guide lacks a topo map, you have to buy one separately. It is written with certain routes in mind, and this is OK if you stay on the suggested route, but if you want to take a different path, then there is no information. For example there are a number of lakes that are present but no information is given, since they are off the 'suggested routes'.
