Great show, Author dead.,

I caught this series while it was on adult swim. Didn't miss an episode. I agree with the other reviewers. It is not to the level of Cowboy Beebop or several other classics. It is better than plenty of other shows. That said I was saddened to find the original author of the story died in 2004 and it seems the popularity of the show kinda died off after that because I too think this series had something going for it, but its largely left unfinished. His friend did step in and finish the remaining books according to wiki. I'm not sure how much more we'll see of this universe.
Eitherway I really liked the characters and their individual personalities and quirks. I thought it was interesting how they wove the church into a serious political force and how it was represented visually.

Not Great but Not Terrible,
By
This review is from: Trinity Blood Box Set (Viridian Collection) (DVD)
Here's the thing, this anime had great potential. I mean I was just ecstatic to finally get to watch it all since I didn't get to see much of it when it was on adult swim. Who can forget moments like when the main character is ripping out the still beating heart of a vampire and crushing it with his bare hands, lots of cool moments like those occur. However, when I watched it completely it felt like I was watching Chrono Crusade, Trigun, and D N Angel in a very screwed up way. Those who have seen those animes will know what I mean. That isn't the real problem though, there were moments that get your blood boiling with excitement and then there are these moments that kinda make your head turn a bit, it might be since there was not enough plot development before things got out of hand. It was like the producers were running out of time and didn't use the space they had wisely. Those are the only flaws I can see, I'm sure the mangas or books do a much better job in these plot issues. Just keep in mind if you buy this alone, there will be questions you won't get answered. That's my honest opinion, you bigger anime fans might just want to pass this one up, it kind of leaves an empty feeling inside after seeing the whole thing. In general just be cautious and heed my words. Not a bad anime, just not one I would keep in the collection as far as epic.

Don't miss this!,
This review is from: Trinity Blood Box Set (Viridian Collection) (DVD)
This anime is based off vampires and humans in a semi-peaceful existence, where the world has been ravaged by WMD's. However, war may break out at any moment. Abel is the main character. It is a spin-off of Cain and Abel from the Bible. Abel is...special, that's all I will say. He acts like the clutsy hero, who has a dark past, as well as a dark side. This show has many philosophical moments, as well as many bloody moments, but it does stay away from a lot of gore. This story is full of drama and romance, as well as action and adventure. Each character has their own attitudes and style of behavior, which is great. Overall a good anime, comparable to Trigun, but not quite enough to reach Cowboy Bebop.

Must see for ANY Anime Fan!,

You've watched Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, The Slayers, and a few
more titles.. And your looking for something a little more mature, and chalked full of blood, action, dark moments, and riveting story. Well, this is it! So, Speed Grapher; a tale of a photographer named Saiga, and his killing camera! I wont spoil to much about the series, other than the fact that it is a lot of fun to watch and extremely awsome for a sunday afternoon. Definiatly watch it! Now on to the box: I am not a big fan of viridian collections only because the packaging tends to get a little bit destroyed after a while, but if you take care of it, it shouldn't be a problem. Now there is a small logo on the top left hand corner of the dvd that ruins the cover "Viridian Collection" is the logo, and it contrasts with the colors on the cover.. But if you don't mind that then you should pick this dvd up as apposed to the other more expensive Dvd box-set. My overall final analysis: awsome series, awsome show, definatley pick this up! Also, Christopher Sabat (plays vegeta/piccolo in dbz, and kikuycho in samurai 7) is also in this series.

Dark, gritty, truly mature anime series,
By
This review is from: Speedgrapher (Boxed Set) (DVD)
This is a highly recommended series for those seeking a well-conceived yet dark, violent, and gritty mature anime. Unlike another series I panned for injecting awkward sex scenes in vain pursuit of recognition as a "mature" title (Moonlight Mile), the presence of such scenes and also violent imagery are specific to the tale being told here. A tale centering on the excesses and decline of Japanese society but most importantly that of those in the most powerful positions...and in the most general terms how some others choose to try to right these wrongs and/or preserve at least some pockets of innocence in the world.
Leads Saiga and Kagura are always compelling, with a complex relationship not least due to heroic photojournalist Saiga being significantly older than teenaged Kagura. Don't be misled though, as this otherwise boundary-pushing show treats this relationship with proper caution and respect. Not to spoil things, I will just note that from beginning to end and indeed as a primary motivating force for the tale, Saiga only seeks to do right by the innocent Kagura. Not so innocent but also fascinating characters include Saiga's (very) aggressive girlfriend Ginza and an always interesting batch of main villains led by the mysterious and manipulative Suitengu. The plot includes some biology-oriented sci-fi, so expect exciting action and disturbing creatures as the delivery mechanism of much of the aforementioned violence. Judging the DVDs technically, the high point of the series is the 5.1ch sound effects and English voice acting. Christopher Sabat (Saiga) and Monica Rial (Kagura) really bring the goods here, and there is no weak actor in the entirety of the supporting cast. Nothing is perfect however, and Speedgrapher does suffer from something that might cripple a lesser union of story and character: sometimes truly weak animation. This issue most infamously manifests in earlier episodes, where automobiles are surprisingly badly animated. Other episodes might show oddly sparse and simply environments. The show is still largely well-animated, just with surprising lapses coming from the studio that produced the likes of Solty Rei and Last Exile.

Beautiful Artwork, A must have!,

I bought this anime collection after reading reviews about it, and was glad I did! Some of the other reviewers posted that the plot wasnt a hundred percent complete and seemed a little rushed at the end, this is true! However for those that love the beauty of anime and character development its a must have for your collection.
The story has a ton of religious references, in fact the whole series revolves around the premise of good verses evil, although it is assumed that the good people even have a little bit of bad in them. There are religous artwork that is modified to fit the tale, and the characters are named after biblical people. The story focuses around a community called the Vatican, where there is a struggle for "vampires" and humans to live together in harmony. The so called vampires are actually beasts resulting of the post-apocolyptic Armageddon called the Methusala and the Crusnik. There is a little gore, and some suprising scenes but its not enough to be considered an anime horror. I wont spoil the story but its a lot of fun and hope you enjoy it.

This isn't the Catholic church that I remember.............,

The premise of a teenage Pope let alone the fact his two main advisors are his older
siblings is a little far fetched to say the least. It would have been nice to have more character development in their earlier stages. Father Able is a shining example of not judgiung a book by its cover. The rest of the supporting cast are interesting especially "Seth". I was stunned how quickly the story had ended. I hope they make another.

Great Series but poor sound,

The story line and character development is top notch as is the art work. The only disappointing and unbelievable part in the series is how dense the "good guys" seem to be. Saiga and the police captain always seem to wait around for the bad guys to get ready and wound up before they start fighting/attacking the bad guys. This usually results in them getting their "cans" kicked unnecessarily.
The other very disappointing thing in this version of the series, and the reason I deducted one star, was the poor sound quality. The background music is always so loud that you have to really crank up the volume to be able to clearly hear the dialog. Of course that means you get your ear drums blasted when the fights and attacks break out or one of the characters starts yelling about something. So you're continually fiddling with the volume control. All in all it's still a great series with an intriguing plot.

Saw this series late night on Comedy Central a few years back. Was overjoyed to be able to purchase it on Amazon for such a reasonable price at the time of my own choosing. Extremely pleased with my purchase.
