4.0 out of 5 stars Solid vampire themed anime series
The blu-ray conversion of this very well executed vampire-related anime series. If you enjoy anime centering around vampires, like Hellsing or Vampire Hunter D, this series will be up your alley. Alright, here is the low down on this box set...

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid vampire themed anime series, September 17, 2010

This review is from: Trinity Blood: Complete Series Box Set [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
The blu-ray conversion of this very well executed vampire-related anime series. If you enjoy anime centering around vampires, like Hellsing or Vampire Hunter D, this series will be up your alley. Alright, here is the low down on this box set...

VIDEO:

The animation quality to this series is excellent. The studio who produced the animation, Gonzo, is known for skillfully blending CG animation and cell-shaded(hand drawn)animation. Both styles of animation blends very well in this one. The background artwork is very skillfully rendered and is beautiful. Nice variation of soft and bold colors. The character and mecha designs are very good as well. Overall, the animation as a whole is very pleasing to watch throughout the entire series. Anime in full HD is indeed a great thing and is how anime should be seen.

AUDIO:

The entire soundtrack to the series is excellent. The background music(BGM) fits in very well with the theme of the story and every situation that occurs. The opening and ending songs, which are vocal ones, are very good. I really like the opening song, Dress (bloody trinity mix), a lot. It is a gothic rock-style song which fits very well with the vampire theme of the show. As far as the sound effects, they are also done very well. The firing of a gun, the sound of an explosion, the acceleration of a airship, the crumbling of a building, and etc all sound like they should. Also, the spoken dialogue is recorded and reproduced in excellent quality. No scratchy, muffled, echoing, and etc quality spoken dialogue. In other words, it does not sound like the voice over work was recorded in a garbage can or metal shed.

STORY/CHARACTERS:

The storyline is very good and pulls you in. Not only is it about the relationship(struggles) between vampires and humankind, it is also about friendship, love, revenge, and self-discovery. Each character goes through his/her own trials and errors(which is mainly related to the rift between vampires and humans) and grows throughout the series. I found it very interesting to see progression of the two races' acceptance of and efforts to co-exist amongst one another. There is plenty of humor to tickle your funny bone, enough dramatic/emotional content to bring you back down to earth, and lots of action to amp you up. As for the characters, each one has his/her own unique personality, strengths, weaknesses, and skill(whether it be actual fighting/combat skills or more practical skills, like interpersonal communication and etc). Some are more memorable and likable than others, but for the most part, a fair number of the characters should have grown on you(one way or another) by the end of the series.

I am an existing fan.

I own a full set of collector's Edition DVD's, and wall posters, and other cool stuff.

I really like this anime, its like a mild Hellsing.

I kicked down and bought the Bluray - boy it is gorgeous.

The audio is stunning, and the video is crisp and amazing.

Be sure to nab this on bluray if you like it, its absolutely worth it.

I was introduced to this series by Adult Swim, unfortunately, as with most anime nowadays on AdultSwim, I missed quite a bit of the episodes. Alas, bought the box-set, and in blu-ray... HEAVEN! Fantastic story, amazing characters, stunning visuals... definitely worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The adventures of Abel Nightroad and friends..., February 16, 2011
This review is from: Trinity Blood: Complete Series Box Set [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
To start with, this series are a fairly good adaptation of the original Manga series released in 2005. The video quality is excellent, and the audio is great as well. Some people complain that the series leave you in a "what's next?! I want to know more!" status, and in a way they are right. The author of the "Trinity Blood" series, Sunao Yoshida passed away in 2004, before the series could be completed by him, his disciple and master illustrator Kiyo Kyujyo completed the series.

The history is a journey of some characters maturing and growing up, to embrace their responsibilities and roles in the world. There is mystery, suspense and a dose of political intrigue, as to who is the power behind the "throne", and some great scenes of action, I won't elaborate more so to not spoil it for you. The adventure takes place in West and Eastern Europe and the "Empire of the East" wher Vampires rule. At the end is a tale of how some characters overcome their hate and thirst for vengeance, and how some can't just forget and leave the past behind...

Enjoy it!

I normally don't like vampires. Pretty much at all, but I loved this series, and how inventive it was overall. I highly suggest it.

Assuming by the difference of its original price to its cut down amazon prices, and the fantastic artwork of its box cover, it is not worth the great deal.Finding out 8 business days later of the superbuy free shipping deal I had spent 8 hours straight watching the whole series hoping for an elevating plot of excitement than finally ending of an anime series that would finally have an ending that makes sense. Watching the series I realized that my predictions, expectations and satisfactions where far from being met. There was no real plot, It was to boring because the main character gave up killing and does not tell you why until another random story is revealed at the ending of the series. The main character Able compares to Reroni Kenshin and does not kill and has a dark past but unlike kenshin, Able has only a tiny amount of detail of his past and it only shows in the end of the series. but whatever....

I am an unsatisfied with my purchase but....

It was really my fault purchasing this item without doing research, so i do advise to watch the series first and only purchase if youre a diehard fan.

Oh and vampires beware...the main character is a higher breed that eats vampires.
