5.0 out of 5 stars Stellar performance on 3 cd, January 3, 2003

This review is from: Trio 3 (Audio CD)
This is the third set of a couple of events that took place in 1985 1986 in Italy (Milano, Bologna) that were recorded by the great italian jazz label Red records (jazz fans remember this name! Red catalog is full of gems like Bobby Watson Appointment in Milano, Chet Baker At Capolinea etc). Cedar Walton offers in these cd's a stellar performance of some of his best known compositions and interpretetions. I choose to review this volume against the other two because in my opinion this is the best among the three. Fantasy in D and the Charlie Parker blues Relaxin at Kamarillo alone are worthe the price. Moreover that evening Cedar choose in my opinion the best repertoire for a perfect jazz date. A bebop blues a couple of originals, a bossa nova a couple of standards renditions. Cedar played that night a marvellous set full of jazz of the highest caliber. And man what an interplay with Williams and Higgins!! Please don't forget the other two cd's. A perfect triangle.
