CLASSICS PLAYED ON RUSSIAN TRADITIONAL INSTRUMENTS,
By Philly Gal (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trio Voronezh (Audio CD)
This group produces incredibly interesting new sounds from the old classics, using Russian traditional folk instruments: the balalaika, the bajan, the mandolin, and accordion. You might never think that music of Vivaldi, Schubert & Bach could be well-presented on these instruments, but you will change your mind when you hear this CD. There are also some lovely Russian melodies, and - SURPRISE - A GERSHWIN MEDLEY is the last track. This music is light-hearted & bright, and the recording is brilliantly clear. We never tire of listening to our copy.
