The initial vision of Bad Haggis comes from Eric Rigler, undoubtedly the most recorded piper of all time. His credits encompass dozens of CDs, television and film scores, from featured soloist for composer James Horner on the soundtracks of TITANIC, BRAVEHEART, THE DEVILS OWN, to recordings for PHIL COLLINS, ROD STEWART, BARBRA STREISAND, TRACY CHAPMAN and WHITNEY HOUSTON & MARIAH CAREY. The wildly imaginative guitar playing of Mike Hoffmann completes the second half of Bad Haggis signature melody sound, a hearing-is-believing sonic experience the band jokingly refer to as the bagtar (lead bagpipes/lead guitar). Mikes credits include recordings and tours with Jazz Legends JOHN HANDY (Charlie Mingus), TONY WILLIAMS (Miles Davis), and ED MANN (Frank Zappa). In addition to the two lead instruments, much of the hybrid sound Bad Haggis has created exudes from the multi-genre styling of bassist and vocalist Mick Linden. Micks playing in the Celtic supergroup, SKYEDANCE (with Eric Rigler and Alasdair Fraser), has earned him the highest critical respect, much the same as it has in the African tradition with such luminaries as PRINCE EYANGO (Another Part of Me--#1 album in Africa). On the underside of things, the World Beat vibe of drummer/percussionist Bryon Holley gives a heartbeat to the animal. Bryon has worked with such artists as African bass guru ARMAND SABEL-LECCO (Paul Simon, The Brecker Bros.) and Alternative Rock icon PERRY FARRELL (Janes Addiction, Porno For Pyros). With musicianship such as this, its no surprise that Bad Haggis carves a new groove in its sonic voyage.

Best Celtic Band Yet...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trip (Audio CD)
This band rocks. The sounds of Eric Riglers Uilleann Pipes are fabulous. The band perfectly wraps around the lead pipes that puts chills down your spine. It brings rock and roll and celtic music into one big show.

I don't think I can positively identify all of the different stylistic elements I hear on this CD. It's truly one of the most creative and unique CD's I've ever heard. Yes, there are several nice modern Celtic bands around, but you'll hear no finer musicians than these guys. Eric is one of the finest pipers in the world hands down, and Bryon is a top notch drummer. I'd venture to say this is the best band you've never heard of. Be sure to catch these guys live, it's well worth it. (They're based in Los Angeles.) Buy the CD and spread the word!

Bad Haggis puts the rock back into celtic rock,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Trip (Audio CD)
Bad Haggis's newest cd, Trip, is definately worth buying. this cd is an awesome mix of bagpipes, guitar, bass, drums and occasionally vocals. Anyone who likes bands like Wicked TInkers or Tempest are sure to love Bad Haggis. This bands cd definately combines rock with the wailing of the bagpipes. some of my favourite tracks are Water Church, Bad Haggis, While You're Asleep and Reels Part Two. If you're a scottish dancer, this cd has great tracks that make you want to get up and dance!
