It's a new year filled with new resolutions. Many of us are hoping to deepen our faith in and relationship with God. The question is how? Well, if you know any tween boys, I've got a devotional that might help.

Triple Dog Dare is designed to fill a year with devotions for boys. Written by Jeremy V. Jones, it is similar to Truth & Dare, only clearly targeted at the slingshot toting sex. The layout is one verse a day, followed by a summary truth, a short devotional, and a triple dare to apply the truth. Then there's a chance to journal, but without the pretty lines in the girls' version. Each week focuses on a different emotion like Fear, Shame, Pride, etc. and in the bottom right-hand corner, there's a graphic that acts like a flipbook. It's a very cool devotional with content that will challenge the young men in your life to live a life that honors God.

My older son is 8, so hasn't quite picked it up on his own yet, but wants to. A little prompting from me, and I know he'll dive into it. Why? Because it's geared at boys his age with his interests. And I love that.

The layout and presentation are really excellent. Good content and relevant, although some references are quite American, the points illustrated still made sense for those from outside the States. Good amount of space to write your own notes in.

Jeremy V. Jones has put together a power-packed devotional book designed just for boys. God made boys to take His truth and do something with it, to man up and change the world. These action packed devotions for boys ages 9 to 12 are filled with godly truth and bold spiritual challenges that transform time with God into the adventure of the day.

Triple Dog Dare connects God's Word to boys' hearts and hands with real life scenarios and activities. Each day is filled with short Scriptures, concise biblical truth and a daily dare, all challenging them to put their faith into practice.

What I appreciated most about this devotional is that it goes beyond the typical "God has a wonderful plan for your life" and how "you will discover and fulfill that when you grow up". Although it is designed with the tween boy in mind, this devotional helps these boys understand how they can know God more intimately NOW and how they can put into practice TODAY the things they learn in His Word.

I'm so thankful for Mr. Jones' work. I think far too often we make the dangerous assumption that our kids have to be at a certain point in their lives to "really understand" the things of God. Jones has not made this assumption and has provided parents and grandparents with an amazing way to help their "tweenager" boy tender their heart toward God.
